She vanished for YEARS!! here's my list that includes all rock stars and groups where they are all in their fifties and still performing on some level or another. Cher
Tina Turner
Linda Ronstat
Ann and Nancy Wilson
Maryann Faithful
The Stones
Rod
Barry Manilow
Neil Diamond
The Who (two left and still rockin)
Bobby Vinton
Arosmith
Meatloaf
KC and the Sunshine Band.
Carly Simon
Carole King

Even AT my age, I know these are CHOICES people make. too bad Dr. Phil wasn't around to slap some sense into Stevie huh? oh and she didn't give up the babies. She conveniently got rid of them(poof! all gone!!) becasue she was into drugs and selfishness. there are many good Rock Moms out there! so let's not sugar coat! speak the truth! why is everyone so afraid!

let down by life? Nope! Sorry to disappoint you! you get up, and move on. self pity sucks and it bores people too. which may be another reason why some of her songs are really bad.
Okay...I actually said nothing about self pity. I happen to agree with you on that. It DOES suck. And I cannot stand it. But, at the same time, sometimes there are things that happen to people in their lives that they cannot control, or maybe they COULD have...but didn't know how...and the aftermath sort of sends you into shock for awhile. Yeah, eventually you get up, and move on...but there IS a period where you have to figure out HOW to DO that. So, yeah...there have been times when I've "sat and stared at the stairs".

If anything, you are bashing people who opinions are different than yours and that is really against Freedom of Speech.
I bashed no one. I simply said, that the ones that DO get it wish that everyone could receive the same fulfillment from it that they do. We want to share. ONLY because we know what she's done for us. How she's helped us.

Oh Good. Someone on my side, and it's someone who IS a briliant songwriter and who IS someone who knows her.
Wonderful. You "get" Christine. I happen to love her music, too. But to say she is brilliant, and (part/most of/"whatever") Stevie's work is "rubbish" or "stoner junk" IS a matter of OPINION. Just because you, or Christine, or whoever says it's so, doesn't make it true, and I don't think you're going to convince anyone here--by that I mean the "Stevie" board--that is a fan of hers, to believe any different.

Angela.......that was all very well put in all of your posts!!!!
Thank you, Stephanie! And ditto...to you. lol

Oh, and don't think I ever saw Miss Piggie on Sesame Street, either. Now, Oscar the Grouch....definitely Sesame Street.

What an attrocious thing to say! You "feel sorry for those not touched by her songs." So you may succeed at your job, have a beautiful spouse, beautiful kids, feel at peace with yourself and the universe. But if you're not a Stevie fan, you're merely worthy of pity? Wow!

Cool Well...

I guess I can say the same thing about Lindsey, I WISH everyone liked Lindsey and that he got the recognition he deserves, but alas, twas not meant to be. We are blessed with the great music we have in this world, but I must agree with Carne here in that if you don't like or know Stevie's stuff, you are not a "poor soul". People like what they like, and that's that. Not everyone loves Journey, Aerosmith, BBMak, The Monkees, DC Talk, Amy Grant, Michael W Smith, but I love each and every one of them, and I wish everyone loved them as much as I do and knew the magic in their music, but they don't. Oh well...waddayagannado? Not trying to spark a LB vs SN debate, just stating my opinon, Janet. ROCK ON!!

My new motto: Listen with an open mind...

I guess I should have read the whole thread before posting that last one. But it just struck me as so outlandish that I couldn't keep from rushing to post something.

How humorous that some of the same arguments I made a couple months ago are getting the same response. At least folks are consistent around here.

WWO, if you haven't gotten a "strike," you're probably well on your way. That crack about pippy something or other should do it. Invoking Freedom of Speech will get you nowhwere here, because soon enough the owner of the board will inform you it's a private board and so long as you abide by his rules, you can stay.

Just keep in mind some of Stevie's hardcore fans would rather live in a fantasy world. Facts and logic are often foreign to some folks.

see now, the truth can be funny too. The major problem is getting people to see that. Stevie does live in a world that is not mine. Or yours. Or even her worshippers. THAT IS MY POINT! so weezie and pippie yah gettin it yet????? She lives in a world she has made for herself that doesn't include ANY NORMAL ACTIVITIES! Let's go bowling, Stevie! Huh?? What?? What's THAT?? Let's go to the cash machine! Huh?? Cash??? Huh??? Let's go to the ladies room for a tampon! HUh?? I am a cartoon character!! I don't have periods!!! ( I just saw Annie Hall with my Dad and Mom and that line cracked me up! cause I;m sure there are people who think she's never been on the rag, either! and neither have I but I hear it's nazzztay! ) The WWO

WWO, I want to be really clear and first say that I am not attempting to infringe on your right to freedom of speech. Instead I would like to appeal to your maturity and sense of fairness and ask that you use some tact in your posts.

You are absolutely right that Stevie lives in a world of her own creation, that there are plenty of people her age who still have careers, that she made some rotten choices in her life, and that she is not total divine perfection. Okay. Point made and taken.

That said, there are many people who love Stevie in spite of, and maybe sometimes even because of, her flaws. You aren't likely to have any success convincing these people that she is unloveable, or that her work has not been meaningful to them. Instead, what happens is that you end up being hurtful to them. I hope that hasn't been your intent in all of this. I know we all have better things to do than sit around yanking each other's chains.

We've gone slightly off track here. I would still like the original poster to explain the preposterous notion that folks who don't somehow get solace from listening to Stevie's music should be pitied.

Let's see, the current population estimate in the United States is 260 million. How many people bought TISL? Five hundred thousand, maybe a little more? All right, let's say, adding some rough numbers from The Dance and accounting for the fact that some people who bought The Dance did not do it for Stevie (myself included), that Stevie has maybe 4 million fans.

That means, according to the warped logic of the original statement, that 256 million people out there are sorry buggers because they don't "get" Stevie.

I don't buy that.

Yo!

Ok guys, this is ridiculous. I was writing some sappy post regarding my feelings toward Stevie and how special she is. I was not saying if you aren't a Stevie fan you are pathetic...I was saying that if people don't give her a chance, its a shame because she's a good artist. A special one! Thats it!

Now going on and on about this is ridiculous. This is a Stevie board for Stevie fans. We can gush about her on here if we chooses. If its not your liking then don't come on here...whats the big deal> We gush because we are fans. FANS. This is a FAN board.

So no one is pathetic, no one is living in a fantasy. My life , personally, is way too busy to be in a fantasy.

So I went on about her private life...choices she made were NOT good ones maybe, but choices are still hard to live with. I don't think we should pity anyone, but its a choice to respect or not to ...

So please, before this gets out of hand, take my post with a grain of salt, me being emotional after watching DIVAS.

Thanks.

I agree wholeheartedly. But I just want to make one addition - let's drop this thread and all others like it. This place has really gone to hell. I'm sick of coming here and reading nothing but pure crap in the form of anti-Stevie verbose rhetoric from certain people that is designed simply to get a rise out of others. Enough is enough. No one said that everyone has to like Stevie, or share the same opinions, but the point is that some people do. So a little respect would go a long way. And so somebody implied something to the fact that they feel bad for those who don't understand Stevie -- so what??? That is 9000 times less offensive than half of the rediculous meaningless statements some people have wasted our time with.
