Anyone else got one of these or played one? We got one for my son for Xmas and we;ve been having great fun with it!

we recently got my son xbox 260, the wii, looks so super cool, the commercials here make it look like the best time, glad your kids & you like it!!!~ i would love to try one!!!~

I've never been a gamer, and since I dont have kids, its hard for me to understand all the hype around these goodies. But I'm sure there's more than enough enthusiasts to go around.

It basically looks like the coolest system evarrrr. But I dont play video games enough to want one. So if someone I know has it, that will certainly do.

11 Comments After all that malarkey last week about Wii Remotes flying from people's hands into TVs, lampshades and eyes, Nintendo has released yet another document on "proper Wii Remote usage", along with starting their wrist strap replacement service today.

The first guidelines have been said about a thousand times before, not to mention put into game loading screens and manuals:


Always wear the wrist strap while playing.

Keep a firm grip on the Wii Remote at all times.

Make sure people and objects are out of the range of movement before play begins.

How does that make those of you who have thrown the Remote across the room feel? Stupid? Small? We hope so. The document goes even further, just to cover all forms of ham-fisted calamities:


Players should keep at least three feet from their televisions and should dry their hands if they become moist.

Remember that the Wii Remote is responsive enough to detect minor movements - so excessive and forceful actions are not necessary.

The motions made are similar to real-life sports games, but the force is not.


Dry your hands? If you're one of those who are so sweaty you can't keep a hold on a Remote, and need a towel to dry your sweaty palms, send us pictures so we can laugh.

With pictures of smashed TVs and black eyes making front-page headlines for all the wrong reasons, Nintendo has to be seen to be doing something to fix the problem.

And we want to give Nintendo a helping hand so, to finish off, we'd like to add a few Safe Wii Usage pointers of our own:


Don't be an over-excitable clown.

If you've got clumsy, fat butter fingers try attaching the Remote to your hand with Sellotape.

If you do smash something, don't take pictures of it and send it to newspapers.

Don't hit your gran in the face. It could be fatal. Though if you do, send us pictures so we can laugh.

We were making fun of that during Christmas...all the people who can't seem to keep a hold of their video game controls....or stand too close to people and end up punching them....it's amusing.

My family is behind the times, they got a lowly PS2....the PS3's $600+ price tag was just too much......

The Wii looks odd to me - those controllers actually do not look at all appealing...they look like they'd be really frustrating...I like a good old hand-held (with one hand) video game controller....I don't do well with change.

^ Ummm...I stopped playing at Sega Genesis. Actually, Atari 2600 & Nintendo were my faves. Mark has the PS2, he's already plotting how & when he can get the P3. And I'm plotting on how to prevent him from getting it.

Well prior to discovering PS2 I'd stopped at Nintendo...the first one.

Even now when I play the PS2 (aside from Dance Dance Revolution) I prefer the old games....Galaga, Paperboy, Pole Position...the newer games frustrate the hell out of me.

oh my god, galaga! i loved that game when i got my old school nintendo. i had a genesis too, but it wasn't the same!

i don't get the appeal of the Wii.

oooowwwwwwwwwwwww i loved me some paperboy!!!~ we had ps2 also before getting the xbox 360, the ps3 price was way too much for me to fathom for a 7 yr old~ he is only allowed to play 2 hrs a day, & then he has to do "other" things~ but damn it's fun!!!~

The main appeal I have seen of Wii is the ability to download or somehow obtain all the old-school Nintendo games - namely Mario...not sure if that's true or not....

But then I can't imagine playing Mario with the weird controllers. I won't fully judge until I try a Wii though...if that ever happens.

Galaga - I LOVE it...I have to stop and play whenever I see it in public..and there's a bar down the street from my work that has it lol...sometimes that's what I do on my lunch break.

the "Plug N Play" games, since they include the system brains for each of the games, so they're accurate versions of the arcade classics (I own 4 "Plug N Play" games, with Ms.Pacman/Galaga/Pole Position being my favorite one.)

I havent owned a game system since the first Nintendo system, And I doubt I ever will own another game system.

Kinda ironic that the US Military has given input for many of the war simulation games for the various game systems, Possibly to train the children of today to become the soliders of tomorrow

Oh, for the record, in the next few years there will be another system even more expensive than either the Wii or the Playstation 3.

I don't like the Galaga plug and play - the shooting button is on the wrong side and I can't take it....

Nope...sure as heck didn't!!! I neve even had my own Nintendo...my mom refused to buy me any sort of gaming system, of course ALL of my friends had either Nintendo or Sega so at least I had some way to play....

But no one I know had the Power Pad!!

Man that thing was fun. My sister and I would wear ourselves out on that thing playing the Olympics. Think of it as DDR for the 80's.
