Nicole Richie arrested, investigated for DUI

BURBANK, California (AP) -- Nicole Richie was arrested early Monday for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol, authorities said.

California Highway Patrol officers took Richie, 25, into custody without incident after she failed a field sobriety test, CHP Officer Todd Workman said.

Her black Mercedes sport utility vehicle was stopped in the car pool lane of State Highway 134 when officers arrived.

Authorities said they received 911 calls about a car going the wrong way on the freeway and the car matched the description of Richie's.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department report, Richie was set free on $15,000 bail.

Richie, star of "The Simple Life" reality series and daughter of pop singer Lionel Richie, was booked in Glendale, tested for drugs and released later Monday morning, Workman said. He said the results of the drug test hadn't been determined.

A message left with Richie's publicist wasn't immediately returned.

Richie stars with on-off friend Paris Hilton in "The Simple Life."

Burbank is 10 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles.

I don't like to laugh at other people's misfortunes buuut....

No seriously though, driving the wrong way on the freeway!?! That's some serious stuff right there, if that happened and it was her (or anyone really), she could have killed herself and others....

There's just no excuse for this

No Joke! .... to all that you wrote.
To call this gal a knucklehead is the understatement of the decade.
Driving while drunk is unexcusable...... and yes, I do have personal experience with someone being killed by a drunk driver so I have NO tolerance there.
Driving on the wrong way on the freeway? Now that is some serious stuff there and rarely turns out with a happy ending.
It's amazing how clueless these "rich kids" are and how their parents are so apparently uncaring.

Then it's always some "regular person" that ends up dead and the rest of us end up with coverage adnauseum. UGGGHHHHH.....

These celebrities are rich enough to hire drivers, but they continue to drive drunk and put innocent people at risk. That pisses me off.

So it's the Vicodin that's keeping her so thin. I hope her family gets her some help. She really needs it.

She wasn't drunk. She admitted to the cop that she was on Vicodin and had smoked some weed. And yeah, get a driver.

Allegedly, she had her stomach stapled or banned and it went bad. As a result, has problems obtaining nutrition through food. Whether this is true reamins to seen, but it is consistent with her cryptic public statement that she has a medical problems, etc.

Thank you. And I heard somewhere she was talking on her cell phone when she was pulled over. What an asshole. Oh, and apparently she weighs 85 lbs. This girl needs help.

Geezaloo...85 pounds...and she's my height...and that's just a scary thought - that's sickly skinny.

And so she wasn't drunk - she was still impaired...vicodin and pot? Come on...she could have killed someone...

I wish she would just go away... I'm tired of hearing about her. I'll give her some credit though... so far she hasn't flashed her vag in public like skanks Paris, Britney and Lindsay.
