Neither. They both suck for Christine tunes. Let's face it- they're both just average songs.
I much prefer "Over and Over" or "Why" or any other Tusk song. And "Only Over You" and "Isn't It Midnight" are way, way better. |

Whereas I think Over and Over is a snooze fest and Heart of Stone is one of my top 3 Christine songs. It really gets to me. Love Shines beats over and over, too. It's nice when Christine goes faster than Christine usually goes.

I think these two songs are okay and I listen to them every now and then. But, they remind me of CM's departure from the old sound into this new crisp vocal thing that I never really took to, though I like her TITN stuff and Nights in Estoril. In the end and to me, CM is brilliant, but her post Mirage path was not as good as her older stuff like Why.
Note - I love CM and am not in any way slamming her!!!!!!! AND - Towie - I LOVE One More Lonely Night and chuckle eveytime La Nicks comes in off key in the "down again" part ![]() |

"One More Night" is probably my least favorite Christine song ever.

For me, the line "and wouldn't you like to be the one hooooooooooolding her tight" is just killer in delivery and that makes the song cool to me. |

"Love Shines," if for no other reason than for the line "On and on it will always be, the rhythm, rhyme, and harmony" (my VERY first sig way back in the alt.music.fleetwood-mac days.) Perfect way to describe Fleetwood Mac.

I pulled out my copy of The Chain to listen to the two. They both have great vocals, and I like them both very much, but I'll give my vote to "Heart of Stone." I like the keyboards and the general arrangement, and I think the song has a nice, varied structure as it goes along. It has a great hook. I think it's a musically more interesting song than "Love Shines."
I also like the completely unrelated song by Bob Welch called "Heart of Stone." I think it's on one of his Paris albums.

I've only got the 2 singles from the Chain boxset, and there are two 'new' (at the time) songs on them: Love Shines (of Christine) and Paper Doll (of Stevie). So I don't remember ever having listened to Heart Of Stone.
Therefore the vote must go to Love Shines. And a brilliant song it surely is. |

My car has a single permanent CD -- it's the Australian two CD version of 25 Years of the Chain. And the only song it is permanently set on -- so I hear it every morning on my drive to work -- is "Love Shines."
