Default Christmas albums

I see where my girl Sarah McLachlan has a new Christmas cd out this year.... and making all the tv stops. YAY!!!

I also notice James Taylor has one out... but hear it was actually one of those Hallmark releases last year(?).
Love me some JT, just the same.

Anyone have any other Christmas cds to recommend?
Other than Christine on "Women Of Christmas In The Garden Of Lilith" and the Billy song Miss Vicky just posted.... did any other member of Fleetwood Mac release anything "Christmas-y"?

^^

Well there's always Stevie's version of Silent Night, which I adore.

The only whole Christmas album I own is an Amy Grant one, but I was very curious about Sarah's...

Sarah's CD is depressing. It's so droned and boring. Blah.

I prefer the 80s versions of Christmas songs. They are more upbeat and fun. My favorite is Santa Claus Is Coming To Town by the Pointer Sisters.

As far as I know, the only other Mac member to do a Christmas tune is Stevie (as Deanna already mentioned), though I'm not personally fond of her vocals on "Silent Night" (BTW, that was on the first A Very Special Christmas, I think)

I'm really, really not a fan of Christmas music in general. The only Christmas cds I own are:

Kev's Kristmas Album - Kevin "Bloody" Wilson (the obscene album I mentioned before)
Malibooz Yule - A Malibu Kind of Christmas - The Malibooz (Walter Egan's surf band)
The Christmas Album - A Gift of Love - Various Artists (bought solely for the Billy song I posted earlier)

I like the Trans Siberian Orchestra for entire albums. They're kind of a rock opera trilogy:

Christmas Eve and Other Stories
The Christmas Attic
The Lost Christmas Eve

Handel's Messiah is another one of my favs. There's various versions of this one though.

Hands-down, A Christmas Gift To You From Phil Spector is the greatest Christmas record ever, if not one of the greatest records of all time. All the great girl-group singers, like Ronnie Spector and Darlene Love, doing amazing renditions of the classics. Definitely my favorite.

I like the very first "A Very Special Christmas" record. The one with the red cover. Really, most of those are great. I also love all the punk/rock n roll Christmas compilations. Also, the Carpenters one is good, as are the Elvis ones.

Apparently, 2 Live Crew has a Christmas record. I need a copy.

I hate Christmas music so much. In fact, the only songs I like are Band Aid, and "Silent Night" by Stevie. And Im not even being biased by liking that Stevie Christmas track - it was my favourite Christmas song before I even knew who Stevie was...

There is something quirkily likeable about that version.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned any ABBA Christmas tunes?!
If any exists... no doubt a Ledgie knows about it.

Here is the tracklisting for an ABBA release entitled "ABBA Gold Christmas" (Not exactly Christmas tunes-I'll check to see if there's a more traditional album of Xmas songs by ABBA)

ABBA - ABBA Gold Christmas
1.Crazy World
2.Summer Night City
3.Put On Your White Sombrero
4.Dream World
5.Hej Gamle Man!
6.Merry-Go-Round
7.Santa Rosa
8.She's My Kind Of Girl
9.Medley - Pick A Bale Of Cotton, On Top Of Old Smokey, Midnight Special
10.You Owe Me One
11.Slipping Through My Fingers
12.Me And I (Live)
13.Waterloo
14.Ring Ring
15.Honey Honey
16.Happy New Year

Oh, Here is a link to a CD single of ABBA's "Happy New Year" that may interest y'all:

I don't really have one to recommend, but did anyone else here see that apparently Billy Idol has a Christmas album out? WTF?
