Seems hard to imagine, but I guess anything is possible.

It was Landslide - and I highly doubt that she had no money to fix it

I think she just associated the money with the repair so that she did not have to pay for it out of her prior earned $$$.

That's a heartbreaking tale about that crack in her swimming pool, Brian. It must have been a very difficult time for her.

Still, I always thought it was an interesting comment -- and made me wonder if Stevie (at least at that particular point in time) was really as rich as I had always assumed she was. Or if times got pretty "lean" (well, comparatively so) for her for a while there.

The more I think back to it, the more I believe you're right, Jason.
It's most likely that she didn't mean it in an "oh, poor pitiful me, I don't have enough money to fix my pool" kind of way, AT ALL.
It was probably more of an "it was great that they recorded my song -- plus the royalties allowed me to fix my pool, so that was a nice bonus."

Isn't the mid-90s also when those reports of her having tax issues came in? I don't exactly remember what they were about, but I doubt they were talking only a few dollars.

I agree with whoever said that Stevie had/has a lot of people to support. I wouldn't be surprised if through the years there were quite a few people who abused Stevie's generosity and her innate need to please people. How many times, especially in the late 80's/early 90's, has she said that she could never quit because so many people depend on her?

As for K - he could spend $20,000 a month on her and the kids, that is just $240,000 a year. If he has over $50,000,000 and earns over a million a year in investment income (that is at a VERY conservative 2% a year) -- it will take a long time to run through his money
