That'd be awesome. I'd buy it...and hopefully it wouldn't take me as long to read as that damn Mary Called Magdalene book!!

Right now I'm just catching my breath before going on the air - I've written my first newscast, weather report and promo sheet...now I'm just awaitin' 3:00!

my book would be a page turner. you'd be all, "how is carrie's mom going to be a whore next??!!?!?"

sweet ... that is so cool that you're on the radio! do you get nervous?

ooh it does sound like a page turner - of course I expect to be in the acknowledgments...since I mentioned writing it in the first place, and because, well...just because

I don't get too nervous anymore - nor am I completely comfortable yet. I do get nervous on days when I just don't have enough news to fill up a newscast (we don't cover burglaries and petty crime things...) but otherwise I'm getting better at not being nervous on the air

and if anyone wants to hear me just go to kunc.org - and you can stream audio from there I'm on 3-7pm weekdays...(mountain time)

/shameless self promotion.

i made plans this year to go to my friend's house in indiana for thanksgiving because i went last year and had a grand time. they're essentially my second family, and i love being around them ... but i found out that my brother may be able to come home for thanksgiving, so i decided not to go. i called to tell them, and they're pissed off at me. i could understand their disappointment (i mean, i'm so fab, y'know. ), but what am i supposed to do? i tried to meet them halfway and said i'd try to come out monday night and stay through wednesday, but my friend was like, "i don't know ... maybe you shouldn't come out at all." WTF. and not once did they say anything like, oh, that's great that your brother will be home for TG. just "you suck."

and my day was incredibly ****ty to start with. it was my day off, and i ended up going in anyway, and staying 2 hrs late, and getting yelled at for circs i couldn't control. oh, and i found out this week that my dad's back in jail. and i don't have anyone to talk to because my closest friends are mad at me.

so i'm just going to sit here and listen to emmylou.
Omigosh! That sucks. Doesn't your friend realize that your brother doesn't exactly get to choose when he comes home so you need to be flexible when he does? Also, do they know you would have more fun with them and are essentially punishing yourself so you can see your brother? That is so unfair of them. Were you very apologetic? Sometimes being too apologetic makes people pounce. Damn them. And sorry about your dad.

can i hire you to try to explain that to them? i tried, but they didn't get it.

my inclination is always to be overly apologetic, but i restrained myself this time, since i didn't do anything wrong! i had to talk to my friend's mom again last night to tell her i couldn't come out tonight, and she was so cold to me. they live 4 hours away and i don't have a car. it would take major juggling for me to borrow my mother's car, not to mention the fact that i would then "owe" my mother something. they act as if i owe them a visit.

Oh -and I think you should totally have Suze call your friends and explain things to them...she hit the nail on the head...

Oh..underwrites. Those are the people who pay big bucks to support our station. In return we read copy about them....but they have to meet certain criteria - so they're not as obnoxious as commercials...

Fake example:

All things considered is supported by Moo Technologies. Keeping up with the newest technology since 1998. Moo Technologies.com or 555-5984.

Something like that.

Yes - she's really technologically advanced for a moo!

moo the diva. isn't it funny how they know when you're on the phone? smidge is the same way ... she finds us whenever she wants attention and demands to be petted. she'll sit next to us, or jump up in our lap (she's fairly small), and then paw at our hands until they start petting her.
