Glad to hear things are getting better!! Get some damn sleep...

That's pretty typical of a bacterial infection, no? At least in humans I think that's true. Did they determine what was wrong, or is that what the second (third?) blood test was for? Regardless, I think the 3rd or 4th day of antibiotics is usually the tipping point to getting things under control, if the infection is indeed bacterial.

Rest assured your Texas flock is pulling for you both. Zorro is loving all the extra attention as I give him the updates, although it's strangely making him HOR-NY. He displayed all night tonight during playtime and is making the low cooing sounds. Crazy bird. Doesn't he know winter's a-coming?

The problem is he has been on the Cipro since Saturday. Almost a week. He has not had a blood test yet. He has not been strong enough. They have no idea what's really wrong. Either way, he has got to get one tomorrow. If getting blood drawn won't kill the little guy, whatever this is certainly will.

You know I appreciate it. Who knows what makes us horny? Maybe Zorro peeked at a pic of Banjo.

yea I'd head out the 40 if you can. hoping for an easy evening...and a good response tomorrow. wish I knew more about birds for you. not sure on the nighttime bit...perhaps nixxy is right on what he posted. I have noticed that when animals are sick they seem to get more worried about it at night...maybe it's a feeling they have...a fear. being near during this time always helps...they can feel the love and security that brings. keep updating us...and thanks for doing so.

Hi Everyone

I took Banjo in to see the vet this afternoon. He was fine on the drive down. Once we got into the waiting room, he got a little weak and passed out a few times. They took him back to put him on oxygen. I told the doctor everything, and we agreed we needed to do an x-ray. Even though it was risky, we went ahead as there was no other way to see what was wrong. The other meds were not helping him. He came through that fine. The x-ray showed he had an enlarged heart and liver and they had pushed his stomach down and over from where it should be.
He also still had a heart murmur that I was unable to hear. The doc wanted to give him heart meds and a calcium shot as he thought he may have a vitamin problem. Since he came through the x-ray so well, I agreed to have blood drawn to see if that could tell us anything else. That went okay. I had his heart drops all set and was about to leave. Then the doc called me back. He came through the blood test okay. He was was fine after his shot as well. But they left him for a minute to come see me, and when they went back, the little guy was gone.

I guess his tiny little heart just couldn't take all that stress.

I knew that he was very sick, and I needed to try and get all the information I could. The only right thing to do was to do the tests. I put it off, as I was worried he was too weak. But I knew if I didn't find out the real problem, I was going to lose him anyway. That doesn't help us much now, but I did all I could to help him.

I brought him home and will bury him tomorrow in the garden up by the pool. He will lay up there with my other two babies. He will be forever loved and never forgotten.

Thanks to everyone who responded and helped me through this very difficult week. I appreciate it more than you know.

Sparky

My heart is broken. Sparky, may all pets have even half the love, care, and devotion that you gave to little Banjo. I'll be thinking of you during this sad and painful time.

I'm so sorry, sparky. You did do everything you could. I can't imagine how hard this must be. Banjo is now at peace and no longer suffering. I'm so sorry this happened. We're here for you.
