The Hollywood Bowl. As much of a geek I am for shows, I am also a geek to see venues I have never been to before. The Hollywood Bowl was something I really looked forward to. Thanks to SapphireSister(Lindsay) Tiff & I got tix to this show, cause it was beyond sold out. While trying to get tix, we encountered the largest moron ever to scar the human race, but let's just leave that alone. haha. After tix were picked up, we went back to Tiff's to get ready. BIG MISTAKE. In coming back, a tad late, as ladies can be....traffic, traffic to the venue, etc was just horrible. Then parking. OY! For that fact alone, I'd probably never go back to the Bowl. Once there, it was just SO crowded w/ people. Great for Tom & Stevie, but it was just TOO mant people. In all that mass of humans, who should be walking up to the will call window right in front of us? Sharon! We caught up to her, made some small talk. She was lovely as always, but had NO idea who we were. Sometimes I know she knows us, other times...well. Gotta figure she too had been stuck in that traffic, and at this precise moment, everybody's thought was to get to their seats. Oh well. We saw Sharon. One + so far. Our seats were forever back...and we thought screw it...lets try to schmooze around to the front. The venue is literally set up w/ front boxes. Little rows of boxes. Sorta hard to describe. You could kinda just "find your way" into someone elses box (HA...that sounds lovely) but they had to be standing. So like lemmings looking for fellow like, we start scanning the audience. We find one group of people standing and just try to mill about in that area like we belong. I look over, and who should it be but Gary Shandeling. He's looking at me like "what do you want?" Not wanting him to think it's him I am trying to get closer to, we walk off to find some other group of standers. We are able to stay on the main floor. At one point we find a bunch of lushes that let us stay in their standing area. Great group of people. A little too on the free love side, but hey....what ever works eh? They couldn't have been more "whatever" about us and anyone else trying to do the same; sharing their space. No sooner had we gotten comfy, security comes and starts ripping us out of that standing area. Tiff and I slide right into the next standing area, and I look over and see that we are being taken out of that area cause apparently it's reserved for James Spader and date. Hmmph! No wonder these folk had been ok w/ us there. They weren't supposed to be there either! haha. Tiff thinks she heard some commentary out of Spader about Stevie. Didn't sound good. I've laid off my Boston Legal watching. heehee. The show unto itself rocked. DUH! Seeing Jeff Lynne was a major treat. Closet ELO fan here! You all know about the show details so nothing more to venture there.

After the show we hang out. Walk around the back of the stage and right there is a door that says "Artist Entrance." No beating around the bush in LA! Most all of the Heartbreakers walk out. Jeff Lynne and then Lisa Loeb. Got my pic w/ Lisa. She's really cute in person. No Tom or Stevie. Oh, also Jackson Browne. That was pretty cool. He was really there till the end of the night. When we finally opted to go, he and some girls were walking way towards the front of the venue, like out to the main road to their limo. Jeesh, you'd think Jackson could get a limo closer to him!!!!! Apparently Drew Barrymore was there, but I didn't see her. Gotta love LA, and all the other celebs that turn out for great music. All in all it was a great night. Just that traffic. Unbeliveable. Pics are so grainy. They aren't so much like that on my camera Just some off shots to share. One sorta shows the curve of the bowl above. Dumb but cool. Kick ass sound at that venue as well. Next post, Berkeley night one!!!!

(I know there is some other program to load pics. I can't think of it at the moment, so enjoy the ridiculously small pics I am making available. )
The Hollywood Bowl is the best!
I saw Fleetwood Mac there on The Dance Tour & MADONNA was in the front row!

I woulda thought the Bowl would be too small for FM during the Dance, but Madonna there?!?!? Recently??? Front row?!?!?!? Holy COW on all accounts! I just saw her for the first time this tour, and I about died. Was VERY taken by the show, and her performance capabilities. She rocks! Even as a passing fan, I don't know if I could handle front row. I mean that in a good way. It'd be just TOO dazzeling!

If I ever go back there, I know to be there plenty in advance, and def in the front area. No seats a bad seat, but it is much larger than it seems. Obviously built back in the day when nothing else was there. Now, the roadways are so damn congested en route. UGH! But it is a nice place really.

ain't that the god's honest truth!

I've taken a few great photos in my time, but not nearly as good or as consistent as these two.
