Just recorded his short performance tonight on DVD-RAM.

I missed most of it ("Not Too Late") since I was in the shower, but I started to record beforehand so I can edit out commercials/etc.

He did Not too Late? anything else? I think, musically (not lyrically) that is my least favorite song on the album. Obviously, if that's what he wants to do, it's fine - but I think if he did Show You How, that would be way better. That song is mesmerizing live, and on the album. I also think it has a broader appeal. Which doesn't make it worse, before anyone gets up in arms about "broader appeal" and if that's important, and blah blah.
I just think it's a f*cking kick ass song, is why it would have wider appeal. Not because it's "simpler" or "more poppy" or anything like that.

I made sure I had the right channel on, as I fell asleep on the couch an hour before the show even started, praying that the sweet sound of Lindsey's guitar strumming would awake me and sure enough it did He looked gorgeous and played beautifully, but I could tell by his voice he was nervous, and so he should be, he hasn't played live on national tv in years (Jay Leno, 2003? do I have that right?)

I just spent the whole time watching his fingers and marveling at how the man can do it.

Eh. I was a bit disappointed. Not Too Late is not my favorite song on the CD to begin with, but I felt the performance I saw in Cleve was far superior to this one. Maybe it was me, but his timing seemed a bit off. I dunno. It wasn't terrible, but I wish he would have done Castaway Dreams or I Am Waiting or Show You How.

I love "Not too Late", honestly the song almost brings me to tears and I don't know why? First time I heard it I felt that way. I thought the performance was wonderful - what a great voice he STILL has and of course the guitar playing - amazing. Yes, he seemed a little nervous, but did great. Now onto Letterman :-) (well he should!)

Did Ferguson interview him? Is this appearance up on youtube yet? I totally missed it. My TiVo has a season pass on Conan, which conflicts with Ferguson in NY, so I missed it.
