Default Snl

I've been Tivo'ing Saturday Night Live all season & catching the eps later in the week. Thank God, because I've had to forward right through most of the drivel they've put out so far.

But this past week was a huge exception when Alec Baldwin hosted. That? Was some funny sh*t! Yes, the shameless cameos (Steve Martin, Martin Short, Paul McCartney, Tony Bennett) were...well, shameless. But they were hilarious!

Best skit? The carpool. I was in hysterics by the time he got to the Bobby McFarrin accusation.

SNL really comes in waves. It's hilarious for 2-3 years, then it stinks, then it goes back to being funny. I think it's "pretty funny" right now.

I agree, though, that last Saturday's show was great. I loved the opening Nancy Pelosi skit and, yeah, the carpool was a riot.

Christina Aguilera was quite good. If she wasn't lip synching, she's quite talented.

We only got halfway through the Britney sketch before turning it off this week- apparently everyone loved it, but I am a crabass and did not.

I thought the Hugh Laurie episode a couple of weeks ago was one of the best ones in the past few years. But seriously, he's such a comic genius that they would've had to **** on paper and expected him to do something with it for it to suck.

In fact, I'd rank the Hugh Laurie ep as one of the best three in the last few years. The first one- Jason Bateman. Second- Justin Timberlake. Seriously.

To me SNL has been in a steady nosedive since the late 90's. It's rare that I can sit through a whole sketch anymore.

When the show is funny, it is really funny. The Meyers-Carvey era, the Sandler-Farley era, the McDonald-Ferell era. All great! I have a feeling that you won't see comedy like that on SNL anymore.

The funny thing is, as bad as SNL sucks...it will always be better then Mad TV.

Alec baldwin is surprisingly funny most of the times he's hosted.

I haven't watched in a while. Since the slow exodus of folks (Ana Gasteyer, Jimmy Fallon, Cheri Oteri, Chris Kataan, Will Ferrell, Molly Shannon, Tracy Morgan, Tina Fey, Rachel Dratch, etc), it has gotten worse & worse each season.

They're definitely missing that "Go To" guy/girl...it was Will Ferrell &/or Rachel Dratch for a long time...and Phil Hartman before that; and Dan Ackroyd before that. NOW, they don't seem to have somebody to fill that role. Darrell Hammond is great, but he can't carry a sketch in the same way that Will, Phil or Dan could.

That was good actually! Although Fallon always had a problem keeping it together in other skits, which made me dislike him.

Speaking of SNL, there is a woman that works on the same floor as I do that looks like Horatio Sanz with a wig on. I mean, dead on. Scary.

I love SNL. I watch pretty much every week. Sometimes, not so funny but other times hilarious. I do miss alot of the characters and the actors that played them. Alec Baldwin is so funny, I wish he was a regular. He should always do comedy.

DavidMn: I noticed in your sig, you have a picture of Lindsey in his "white" t-shirt, his "black" t-shirt and his "grey" t-shirt. You now have pictures of Lindsey in his complete wardrobe

I always thought Alec Baldwin would've made a good Batman, circa 94-95 or so.

I'll always have a special place in my heart for Jimmy Fallon. He grew up in Saugerties, NY, right near where I grew up. He mentions Saugerties in his skit where he plays a radio DJ. Hellloooooo Saugertiessssssssssss..... And were BAAAAAAACKKK!!!!!!He says it so fast you don't really know what he's saying, though.

I enjoyed the Steve Martin/Martin Short etc skit...of course throw Paul McCartney into anything and I'm happy. He looked good - and was his cute playful Paul self...

He's really getting out there recently - which I'm thrilled to see!

I had to watch that skit online though - I missed the actual show as I was watching The Exorcist

It was a great show. I actually managed to stay awake during the whole thing. I also Tivo it just in case I fall asleep.
And Christina Aguilera! What a performer!
