Knowing you totally blew it but not knowing exactly why or how to fix it.

I'm ressurecting this thread because I've just about had it. For the life of me I can't understand how people here at my job can drink coffee but have no idea how to make it. We have commerical sized coffee makers here, with DETAILED instructions on how to make a pot of coffee. That alone blows my mind. It ain't rocket science, you know? Dump coffee grounds into filter, put filter in basket, push a button and there you have it. There really shouldn't be a need for detailed instructions. With pictures. And yet, everyday there seems to be some issue with the coffee. Too weak, too strong, a nice layer of grounds on the bottom of the pot (my favorite), or else the pot is bone dry.

Anyway, today I went into the break room and this guy I kind of know was filling up his coffee mug. I went to stand behind him to wait to get coffee and we struck up a conversation. Nothing wrong with that, but as we were talking I noticed that the pot was nearly empty. As we were talking, he literally shook the last few drops out of the pot and into his mug. Then he just walked away. I was in mid-sentence and when I saw that I just stopped talking. He must have taken notice of the shocked/pissed look on my face and simply said:

"If I knew how to make more, I would. You wanna take care of that for me, big guy?"

One, don't call me big guy. Ever.
Two, this guy has a degree. A man with a degree is too ignorant to know how to make a pot of coffee. WTF?

All I can picture is a bunch of guys saying those thing whilst pointing and winking...ya know what I'm talking about? The point and wink? Do they do that...if so you may need to find employment elsewhere

Ha! Yeah, I've seen the point and wink. Of course, it's never directed at me. There used to be a guy here who always did the shooting thing with his hands. That was pretty unbearable.

Thank god I can get my coffee, go back to my desk, put on my headphones and drown those losers out.
