The 50-year-old has been blind since birth and has always been forced to have someone else cast his ballot for him. This year was supposed to be different. Summit County purchased new voting machines for the visually impaired, but unfortunately, Chinn's machine wouldn't work.

As the hours ticked away, Chinn refused to give up. He sat in a corner and waited for a new machine to be brought from Board headquarters. It finally arrived and Chinn accomplished his goal four hours after coming to the polls.

"And there's so many issues that concern me, especially because I'm a person with disabilities," Chinn said. "It's very important for me to participate in the political process."

It's doubtful that very many of the hundreds of voters who cast their ballots at Precinct 10-J even noticed Chinn waiting patiently in the corner for his chance to vote. Poll workers certainly did take notice, and applauded Chinn's resolve.

"I told him that I respect the fact that you'll wait so you can vote when other people could care less," said Kalli Alvis, poll worker.

Actually, I think the D's will adopt the plan set forth in Newsweek, which was, in sum, drop over a year or so from 144,000 troops to 30,000 troops, make the sunni Triangle stable through Iraqi forces, and establish a Kursistan (note the Kurds are not fighting now) -- the article concedes that the initial process of the Iraqi takeover of responsibility to keep the peace will be horribly tumultuous, but they need to do it at some point and that time is now.

Believe me, I'm not a fan of the Dems' actions on the war. Newseek plan sounds interesting.

I looked for it online, but could not find it. It was great reading. It compared Iraq to Korea and set forth this plan that would prohibit our deaths from going to 30,000+ -- I mean I am sure not all will agree with every aspect of the plan, but, to me, it at least WAS a fukcing plan, which is better than either party has proffered.

Me neither. I think Kerry did have a plan. The dems haven't said much coming into this vote because the Rs just imploded and they didn't have to and risk losing votes.

I think Kerry had no plan (or at least any plan worth any merit or significantly different then W's "plan" ) when he ran. Otherwise, he would have used it. I mean that election was Kerry's to lose, and he did, which is a strong testament to how inept he was and is IMO.

with voting technology, I thought with the advances voting would be easier-Guess not (There's never been a voting problem in Oklahoma, I think the rest of the country needs to use the same system we use, it's fast and very reliable-Just connect the arrow which points at ONLY the candidate/issue with a black felt pen and there ya go, so easy that even 80 & 90 yrs. old consistently do it without any problem)

Damn, most we have ever stood in line was about 5 minutes (Mainly because the former facility was a very small room, now it's a cafeteria of a senior center.)

I voted straight Democrat, with a few exceptions. In some of the state court races, the only choice was between a Republican (incumbents, I'm sure) and a Libertarian. I voted Libertarian, even though they're basically the same thing as Republicans.

Anyway, I don't think any of my votes amounted to a hill of beans, this being Texas and all. That bitch Kay Bailey Hutchinson will win by a landslide, even though I took great pleasure in voting against her. Same goes for that MF Perry.
