I flew in from Texas to go see him in Chicago and I'll be flying to other cities this Wednesday and Saturday. I'd like to have some pictures to share with my friends who are overseas and cannot go to ANY shows.
Ya. That's my point. You are spending hundreds of dollars to go see the show. Is it really to much for you to be able to have a few pictures on the wall, so you can say, "Ya that's from 2006 at so an so, I flew in to that gig?" I think they are missing the boat. Nothing like biting the hand feeding you... I think it's gotten to crazy and they have lost track of what it should be about. It should be about making the fans happy, esp with the friggn crazy prices for some of these shows.

Best

I know it is important to you and I am sorry that you are having problems at the shows. I wish there was a way.

If they are really being asses I would take a couple right at the end. That way if they try anything you won't miss the show.

Default Well...

It's just a matter of principle really. I took lots of great pics at the SYW tour and Lindsey even mugged for people. I think if his management has changed, that must be it.

If they are hard-a$$ed about it at the rest of the shows...then, so be it. I'll put the camera away. It's just a head scratcher about the whole deal.

Yeah, that is why I waited until Tusk and GYOW to whip the camera out. I mainly wanted to get me playing his guitar, which I did. I'd wanted that since the SYW tour. I don't sit there clicking away constantly throughout the show. I'm no great photographer so when I do take a non-blurry photo, it's a freakin' event.

Indeed... a "head scratcher." I doubt Lindsey is even awhere they are saying no photos. As much as he loves the interaction I can't seeing him being the problem. Maybe one of you going to the next shows can ask him after the show. Tell them about the camera Nazi's and ask if he would talk to MGMT about letting us shoot no flash. Be suprised what might happen....

With regard to expenses for shows...we are all spending a mint or two...all I can expect is to see and hear Lindsey perform. At this point, I don't think I will be taking my cam inside the venue at all.

I'm sure you will have a good time... give the guitar a strum for me.

Thanks Pix.

I am sorry but I have been away for a period of time and have been unable to keep up on what has been happening at the events. Has the cam policy dramatically changed from the first events?

the approach i used in nashville with my Nikon 35mm D70 digital camera:

* i easily carried the camera in with me with the carry strap looped around my hand under my jacket - they weren't checking at all.

* then i purposely did NOT take any photos until the last couple of songs in the show. I wanted to be sure a) that I enjoyed the show watching it and not from behind the viewfinder, which I find causes me to only look for good shots in the frame and not be in the "now" to enjoy the moments of the show; and b) that I didn't get tossed before I had a chance to enjoy the show and maybe play LB's guitar during GYOW (which I did get to do!).

* A 35mm camera isn't exactly discreet vs. a small portable digital camera, but I did my best to be discreet when taking photos so as to try not to bother other fans too much and to not attract undue attention from ushers and security.

I cant say this would work for other peeps here during other shows on the tour, as it sounds like the venues might be getting more strict about cameras.

But it is also possible that this isn't a trend per se, but more a case by case issue from one venue to the next... some are strict and some are not.

The biggest advice I can give after many years of doing sports photography professionally and some concert photograhy just as a fan: dont get so caught up in taking photos during the show that you miss the moments of enjoying the show while you are behind the viewfinder!

Cams were no problem at all in Cleveland. If LB is bothered by ignorant fans using the flash, couldn't he just say "hey, guys, please don't use a flash on your camera, it's really blinding me up here."

Yeah he could. This subject is tired.

I think it is really great the shots/youtubes people have posted here. I am secretly hoping he releases some concert footage himself...maybe he will this tour or the next one...I really can't get enough of soundstage and wish he would do another. Same goes for Stevie.

Amen to this!! I got so caught up taking pics at the Tom/Stevie show that I seriously don't even remember her singing. I remember seeing her of course but I didn't actually listen to the songs
