I wish you would tell us a little bit more about Jeff?

I don't mind the lyric switches. I just hate when she does them "speaking".
She started out sounding like she was sick. Got better towards the middle. I prefer the Vegas BATB though. |

Ah, off key Stevie. This was my least favorite tour vocally, but the set list and costume changes were good.

Absolutely!!! I love the adlibs, changed lyrics and even the little mistakes that Stevie makes in the live performances. At the Dance show in Chicago, Stevie completely forgot some of the lyrics to "Stand Back" and Lindsey and Christine were laughing. I love listening to that performance because it brings me back to that evening. If Stevie wouldv'e just looked down into the crowd -- everyone was singing them for her!

I like the lyric changes. I always love it when she ad libs. This version is just okay to me. Her voice sounds good. The klonopin didn't seem to be affecting her too badly on this night. Also, fortunately BATB is a relatively quiet song musically which is good as I felt that at times the Timespace tour band overpowered Stevie with their loudness and she tried to oversing them. That was back before she used an ear monitor.
One of the ultimate performances of this song is this one, IMO. Kudos to the videographer. You know who you are: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TYQ3PX4D Last edited by gldstwmn; 10-29-2006 at 12:44 PM.. |

^^ exactly. If she didn't adlib, we wouldn't have "take me like the wind child" or the whole" Oh you know your dreams unwind, still it's a state of mind" "take me like the wind baby take me with the skyyy-yiii-yyiiiiiii...all the same....all the same etc" And how boring would THAT be!!!
as I said earlier...I like the switches. just stevie-STOP speaking them!!! ![]() |

I usually like most of Stevie's lyric changes/ad-libs.... but there's one that I cringe at - in BATB -
after the big dramatic IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII've changed...... ... or at least I'm trying to change.... {yuck!} I feel like that just takes away from the drama/meaning of the original lyric.... sometimes less is more... in this case... I'd definitely prefer less.

I'm all for ad libs but only if they work with the music.

I love her adlibs. Yes, even the lines that are spoken and totally random and barely fit in the song. I feel like it gave us a peak into her inner thoughts at the time. I don't like it when her adlibs became part of the song (i.e. the Rhiannon ending and OTR "Mick said" part)...I still love those parts, but they don't seem as special as they once were. They became predictible.
