Well, none are too exciting.

Let's see, Sean and Madonna came to see Harry Dean Stanton play and they came in without ANY papparrazzi, and we snuck them up to the upstairs viewing room.

When Billy Zoom came into the record store where I worked, it was to buy a tape, because the band (X) was nearby recording "Wild Thing" and they had run out of tape—he must've just needed a cassette copy of the demo.

Adam Arkin (he was on that Doctor show at the time) and Lauren Holly came in, they sat alone in the back of the restuarant, and I believe Lauren holly was still married to Jim Carrey. I did break my usual professional rule of not being a fan-while-working by telling Adam what a lifelong fan I am of his dad. I waited until after they had paid, and were leaving. Oops! I don't know how kind that was of me, but I AM a lifelong fan of his dad's. He took it pretty well.

Ian Mculloch (Echo and the Bunnymen) was with his mgr, and trying to score drugs

Cyndi Lauper was with her backup singer, who used to sing with one of my coworkers, and he introduced us.

Natalie Merchant was very shy, but I actually became good friends with the guitar player (who, sadly, died about 5 years ago) and we used to correspond.

What else....Chirs Isaak did a 5 night stint at the club where I worked, and I flirted a lot with one of the band memebers, which was fun. Chris Isaak is very exacting with his band, and his show, which is why they are so tight.

I am a pit boss on the Vegas strip.

I usually have a standard sentence when I hear "Don't you know who I am?"

"Yeah, someone who doesn't know how to act in public" followed by security throwing them into the street.

On rapper (after acting like a typical thug) said "I am on Geffen Records - Don't you know who I am", I said " Someone who thinks money can buy respect and class - and is still a nobody" and booted his A$%.

The security guard (who was also black - to head off the black oppression excuse- also told him to pull up his pants. He had those overly baggy pants crap on.

I don't think you asked me, but I am sad to say that I don't have any thrilling details: I think she just nodded and smiled. I just happened to be standing there, ordering a round of drinks, so I didn't expect to chat with her or anything. She sure was teeny.

It happens to me to meet some celebs for press conferences or interviews. Among the international ones I haven't encountered really rude people (even though sometimes in their entourages there are ex Gestapo officers... Sting people for example).
Most of them are on the nice/very nice scale (my favourites so far are Meryl Streep, Jonathan Demme and Jackie Chan).

Then there are some that would answer with just "yes" or "no" if you take them in the wrong day, for example Sean Connery and Robert De Niro, but recently they've been both quite gracious.

Right on choice of words for Ms. Keaton. I have been a huge fan of hers forever (Annie Hall & Manhattan are two of my all time faves).
I met her years ago when she was in Atlanta to accept an award.... and she was precisely as you said: gracious..nervous..guarded..sweet. She has that "celebrity aura" that I imagine the classics had.... as opposed to too many celebs today where you know they are every. bit. as shallow as you would imagine.

I coordinate a lot of author signings, and most of the authors are great. Gloria Estefan, Naomi Judd, Douglas Preston, were all incredible.

Brad Meltzer is my favorite author to work with. If you get a chance to read his stuff, do, and then go meet him. Fantastic person.

On the other hand...

There was an instance where we had a HUGE children's author who writes under a pen name. The event was so large we had to secure the high school auditorium and hand out tickets to limit the number of people to 1000. Mr. Author did an event the night before and was there until 3:30 am. SO the day of OUR event, we get a call from his publicist saying he is 'exhausted' and cannot possibly do a signing.
After an hour of wrangling he settled on doing his stage show and extending it an hour. Then he left, and we had 1000 people to mollify.
The kicker is that he did not want to announce anything remotely near 'He's tired and has to cancel,' and wanted us to be the fall guy. We politely declined and actually had to negotiate what the announcement would be.

(to his credit, he did make a generous donation to the school's literacy fund)

this makes me so happy to hear. i've never had the pleasure of meeting her (which is a good thing, because i'm pretty sure i wouldn't be able to act normal around diane), but she has always struck me as one of those rare celebrities who has no pretention. she has always come across as such a genuine individual. i wish there was more of that in show business.
