Thumbs down

jeez oh pete -
hey musicman - don't you think it a little slimy to go to websites like this and dangle "new stevie demos" just so you can trick us all into checkin out your site - at least be honest about it -

something like this maybe:
"hey everyone - i am a wannabe stevie and i have taken lil snippets of her lyrics and added a few words of my own and put them in a blender and then i wrote them down randomly and are calling them songs. -
and they were so good that i knew i had to trick you all to go to my website by using stevie demos instead of letting the "songs" i wrote stand on their own merit."

- and i did read you lyrics - yikes man - i know you are young but P.U.

and i don't wanna stomp your creative energy - i just think you should present what you are doing in an honest light - and get your rankings the right way - by letting your work stand on it's own merits - be they good or bad -

- and don't tell me you have "much love" for me while you are tricking me -
the word love is so abused as it is that it doesn't need your CRAP piling on it.

damn - i thought id feel better after writing this . . . but no go . . .

"Don't ask me what i think of you - i might not give the answer that you want me to - - - OH WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!

Well as a songwriter, I would like to know what makes my lyrics so P.U so that I can work on them and improve upon them.

With Warm Regards (for your wishes)

Ethan

now after i call you on your tactics to falsely obtain ratings by tricking famous people's fans to your site - you just ignore everything i said and now want to pick my brain on why i didn't like your stuff -

sorry but i think we are on the same planet - just different worlds -

The reason my website is set up the way it is is so that people who visit it can listen to some rare music and learn a little more about me. If it seemed like i was dangling a carrot in front of you, I am truely sorry because that is totally not what I was trying to do. I'm just trying to offer the best of both worlds.

Warm Regards,
Ethan

Funny how it says lyrics copyright Ethan Kinkle. I was under the impression some lady named Stevie Nicks wrote a lot of that stuff. Wow. I live a sheltered life.

Much love for setting me straight,
Lisa

Stevie wrote those lyrics in the same sense that Edgar Allan Poe wrote lyrics to "Planets of the Universe". What about the many songs she takes direct lines from Oscar Wilde, 'cause I don't remember seeing his name in any liner notes either.

I agree, but I think you missed the point...

What is the point?
If the point is to criticize Ethan, I didn't miss it, it's appearing in heavy rotation these days. In this thread many are focusing on the fact that he is drawing from Stevie's lyrics, but people are forgetting that he is supposedly 16 years old and has a lot to learn about lyric writing. Who, among those of us who write, in their beginnings or youth hasn't done what he is doing? I once wrote a song that was sort of a response to Dreams as if Lindsey were singing. I only remember the chorus but it went: "Hear the thunder, feel the rain. All that's left is the hurt and pain. You said goodbye, you let me go.. my dreams are gone and now I know".
It's extremely cheesy, and takes words from the original song, but when you are young and starting to take writing seriously everything you write is important in developing as a writer. It can be very hard to open yourself up to people and share your writing. Constructive criticizim is great and helpful, but just being negative to someone because it seems the popular thing to do lately speaks more about the critic and less about the writer.

After reading this thread, it has reinforced my thought that Ethan is not who he says he is. Alot of his posts seem very articulate, yet when he creates a thread he can't help but spell everything wrong and pUt exTRa CapiTal LetteRs iN thE TitlE. Am I the only one who is smells something fishy?

^^ Yeah, when I tried the whole songwriting thing, I probably ripped off of who I was listening to at the time, but I didn't put my lyrics online and claim that they were all my own.

I might be missing the point, but I thought the idea of a site like the one Ethan created was to promote original works? I'm not saying there's anything wrong with posting Stevie demos, but it's like nix4life said: He kinda mislead people by posting what he did. Why not just say, Yo, Ledgies, I've got a site with some of my writing on there. Could you check it out and give me feedback? It seems to me that Ethan is more concerned with visitor count and page ranking than he is with people looking at his so called work.

I didn't see anything odd about the titles of the threads he started. If you mean how he capitalizes the first letter of every word in the title, that is just the formal way of writing a title. I can't comment on the spelling, since that is a weakness of my own.
