Default what is the most bizarre thing that has happened at work??

well, it doesn't even have to be that freakish. Just anything you want to share: funny, odd, crazy, or down right freaky.

I thought it would also allow us to know what everyone does

well, I'm a dental assistant. I'd have to say the freakiest thing was a guy that came in with a "gum" abcess. He was not a patient of ours, but came in as an emergency. I guess the night before, it was hurting so bad he had to take matters into his own hands. The abcess was on top left, on the roof of his mouth. He took a steak knife and lanced his gum tissue. A STEAK knife!!! I think my heart dropped. Oh, I have plenty of "gross" stories (if that wasn't bad enough) but I'll spare you. I also worked at Victoria's Secret for a few years and came up with some gems. But we'll go with this one for now. !!

come on...I know you "legal professionals" HAVE to have some good stories!!!

^^ ya think??!!! aww.. that is sad though

I had a patient come in a couple of weeks ago. I SO love her. She's about 60 and she is so cool and everything. Well, her husband has Alzheimer's and while she was getting her teeth cleaned, he decided to take a stroll. The new girl up front didnt' realize his condition, so didn't think anything of it. When I walked her up front, she was freaking out, so I go running up and down the road COMPLETELY in panic mode. We eventually found him and I was so sad for days. A year ago I was sitting in the room with her and asked her about him and she just broke down crying. "I" was crying....But I was glad I could be there for her because that is what it's all about, but GEESH!!! I was a basket case the rest of the day

^^

What an awful disease that is, it robs not only the person - but everyone around them That poor woman.

-----------------

Bizarre work stories....

ooh...we were out covering a big murder deal (this was when I was working in Rochester) and a lady with a bat just started attacking the tv cameramen and reporters... I mean she let 'em have it - one reporter was hospitalized and everything.

-----

When I worked at Michael's Arts and Crafts...there were a couple of cute old ladies who came in their little overalls...very friendly - your typical cute old ladies.

Well I was going on break and I noticed them stuffing yarn and fake flowers into their overalls I know being elderly and on a fixed income is tough..but come on!

Default One man's addiction to Heinz

My first job waiting tables was at a diner, when I was 18. I had a regular who would sit at a corner table and order a plate of fries. He would always flag us down in just a manner of minutes, and ask for a second bottle of ketchup, and at first we were shocked to see that he had already emptied the first. Pretty soon we started bringing him two bottles with the plate of fries.

One night, he was the only customer in the place, and I left him with his plate of ketchup and fries while I went to the walk-in to get a tub of some yucky pre-made diner food. When I came around the corner from the back of the house, I caught him drinking the ketchup. That's right, his head was tipped back, and the bottle was emtptying into his mouth. We had a moment: our eyes locked, I think he saw the pure horror and disgust in mine, and I saw the guilt and ketchup-loving despair in his eyes.

I worked at Spencer Gifts when I was a teenager. Not once, but twice! we had people in the middle of the store hit the floor and have seizures. Horrifing! It was the strobe lights in the back of the store going. We shut them off after the second time.

When I worked at Maplehurst (big bakery, factory setting) and I was pregnant, my water broke 12 weeks early. I had almost every woman who worked with me running (as fast as a freaked out pregnant woman can run) through the plant, looking for my husband, who worked there also. I'll never forget that.
