there really aren't. we did a lot of people watching and joke making at their expense, but nothing really awe inspiring I guess. there was ample Stevie singing and lots of lyric references throughout the day. of course, since I was staying in a hotel on the opposite side of town, my time spent with the groups was always cut short in order to get a cab, etc.
and for the record, Amber is more than just energetic. she is pretty and smart and witty and kind and generous. ![]() Last edited by JazmenFlowers; 10-05-2006 at 08:54 AM.. |

Yes, indeed. I didn't get to her yet because I got bored with my own review and stopped at the encore. I'll wrap it up, the encore was great, and then I got to enjoy half a glass of wine with the aforementioned Ledgies until realizing I could have missed the last BART train. Ran to the station and caught the final, final train. Filled with very messy people, I might add.

Very funny, very pretty, and I guess not gay, but that is not all it's cracked up to be.

Yeah, I'm a bit annoyed at your dissing of "Oh Well". ![]()

I'm terribly jealous that Stevie came to the front of the stage to do her wild-ass "Don't Come Around Here..." spaz attack. She did it for us in Dallas from the far right almost behind a pile of speakers. But we could still see the flailing shawl and whipping hair. Loved it nonetheless.
Great review! |

I have a comment then. I thought Oh Well was magnificent, truly a band highlight of the evening for me. And I marveled that Mick could have possibly made up the drum parts.
I mean I was amazed at the band throughout the whole song. Tight. This was my first times seeing Petty live, so I was in awe of the band all night - but Oh Well was crazy good. I didn't fully understand how amazing his band is until seeing it live.

I was not dissing Oh Well, nor TP&HBers rendition. I just don't care for covers and would rather hear bands do their own music.

On the surface, it appears you were giving the song a compliment, "it was fun"; then you just immediately negate the compliment with the "I'd rather hear Petty songs" statement.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were the ones who played "Oh Well" at that concert; therefore, at that moment it WAS a Tom Petty song. (ditto with any other covers he did that night) It was the set he WANTED to present. And, from videos I've seen of his version of "Oh Well", TPatH kicks some royal booty on the song. To me, even better than a couple of incarnations of Fleetwood Mac. I find it kind of telling that they WOULD include "Oh Well" in their set and that Fleetwood Mac has NOT had it in their set for 12 years. And, that fact is just downright sad. Kind of a narrow viewpoint.
