Default Under the Skin Sales

Well, UTS came out today and as I speak it's at #26 in sales on Amazon and #49 on bn.com but I couldn't find it on the Billboard chart. Is this it's sales peak or will it go higher? If they want really good sales what they should do is get the album into Starbucks. Millions of people pass thru Starbucks everyday and recently they've been pushing Bob Dylan's and Tom Petty's new albums. Just play a couple of songs every day from UTS and I'm sure sales would jump significantly.

It went on sale today... Billboard's current chart placements on their site are based on the previous weeks sales. So all this week as it's sold, it will be tallied up and if it's going to chart, we'll have to wait till next week to find out the results.. Wedneday Billboard publishes the revised charts.

perhaps a good business idea, but way too corporate for our "tortured artist."

I truly hope Lindsey has some success with the sales of this CD. Actually I was really disappointed when Out Of the Cradle did not do well, I love that CD.
Anyone know the sales figures for OOTC?

i think OOTC sold about 190,000 in the US

UTS will probably do more like 500,000.

Just my prediction.

We won't know any sales figures until next week.

500,000?!?

I put the over/under at 200,000 copies sold by a year from now. It'll sell about 25,000 copies this week.

You are sure about the OOTC sales? Wasn't it much much less?
I would be glad for LB if the new album would be doing good saleswise but I still doubt it. It has nothing to do with the quality of the music. It's all about visability, marketing and image. Some ledgies mentioned to not have found UTS in the stores, even in larger ones. If you only get the album by ordering it, (and only fans who knew him before will do so) then there is no chance of it selling good. I would be surprised if it reaches more than 50.000 sold copies.

I was thinking OOTC sold somewhere in the 50000-70000 range?

I want UTS to achieve enough sales success so that the electric album is released next year. It has garnered fairly positive reviews and some press, so hopefully the sales will be respectable.

It is a nice album after giving it a few whirls...I am sure it will grow on me more so and I will be totally in love with it. There are a few songs that I am not feeling on. In all honesty I love the man, his music but I don't see it breaking major record sales. His loyal fans like us and maybe some curious folks will pick it up but I don't see a frenzy though I would love to see it happen as he is fab in my book!! I hope that it gains some momentum so that we get the electric album next year!!

At Barnes & Noble where I bought the album yesterday they had it on the new release shelf at the front of the music section as well as a couple of rows at the front of the store so that people would see it while waiting in line and it seemed like they were pushing it a lot. If he does a couple of appearances on late night shows it would probably help a lot.

I'm also hoping that the sales are good so that it might help boost his confidence and start releasing stuff more often
