Default New Meds?

Ok I have a problem. I'm going to see the psychiatrist Friday about possibly getting some new depression meds. I'm currently taking the following daily:

60mg of Selexa
150mg of Wellbutrin

The problem I have is that my weight is up lately and I'm not real happy about it. I know I make the choices to eat what I eat, but I know some meds are more succeptible to making one eat more than others. Any reccomendations before I see the shrink?

I don't know anything about Selexa. Wellbutrin is actually touted as helpful for weight loss. http://www.aphroditewomenshealth.com...lth_news.shtml You have to exercise and watch what you eat though. Baby steps! I found Dr. Weil's 8 Weeks to Optimum Health helpful in changing my attitudes toward diet and exercise from perceived punishments to choices I make because they make me feel good.

I need that book. I HATE watching what I eat and I hate exercising even more... it feels like such a miserable chore. I want to be healthy, but I do not want to waste my life denying myself good food and leisure-time, just to have a nice looking body.

Like you said, it feels like a punishment.

Lord Child - you cannot eat like a hog everyday and expect not to look like one

However, if you eat in moderation, e.g. a pizza once a week instead of five nights a week, and outside of that time, eat six smaller and more sensible meals a day, your body will be fine.

A good rule of thumb is if it comes in a paper bag or in a can - it is not good for you

It's sort of like brain washing yourself. A good one for exercise is Feeling Good. Actually that one is good for getting rid of negative thoughts period since it's about self-cognitive therapy. It is not one of those touchy feely pie in the sky self-help books but is very scientific. One tip for exercise is "I only have to do 5 minutes", of course you're going to do more. It really does help, you don't think you can "trick" yourself but you can. If I'm really tired I tell myself, "one more minute" until I get my 30 in. Fake it 'til you make it, baby!

Right on. Use the 80/20 rule. Be "good" 80% of time and bad 20%. Be very very bad though cuz life is short!

And - I was HORRIBLE on Sat. night. Pan Pizza at midnight I did, however, sleep like a baby with all that starch to digest

I do it all wrong, because I only eat two meals a day... and they're BIG meals. It's what my body seems to want.
I know I need to change though, but I have such a bad attitude when it comes to this kind of thing. And Joshua always tells me he loves my body exactly the way it is... so that's like my "get out of jail free" card to not lose weight.

Hey! I do that exercising trick...I always tell myself "just five more minutes.." then I can do more...I finally worked my way back up to 30 this weekend...and I didn't die

Of course I also ate horribly this weekend (pizza and brownies) but at least the rest of the week is filled with healthy meals and exercise.

I think one of the hardest things for me is I eat when I'm depressed, and believe me it's hard to get rid of that mindset!
