I'm stressing over something else right now.

As soon as the shows I'm going to, go on sale...I'll be over here jumping for joy. Right now...I'm a little stressed out.

i mean, honestly -- when someone plays a venue as small as those lindsey is playing, there really isn't a bad seat. i'm not going to sweat it -- even if it is disheartening to see tickets being listed on broker sites already.

I don't even have the privilege to be fretting about good seats, honestly. I really should just be happy that I am going, not worry too much about the seats, but I know that some people are really spoiled when it comes to that. Not that I blame them, I would be too if the circumstances were different.

I'm pleased Lindsey allowed some tracks on his site.
I'm not pleased those mp3s were posted here.

Default Vocals?

Hello all---

First, I have to say that any new Lindsey music is better than NO new Lindsey music. Having said that, I'm excited about the stripped back production of some of the new songs, but I'm trying NOT to let my expectations get too high.

I definitely share the views that have been expressed about Lindsey's vocals on these tracks. I've never understood his apparent need to treat his vocals with a variety of effects. The worst of these is his frequent use of flange, which really gets on my nerves. Just for once, I'd love to hear Lindsey's voice with a direct, in-your-face production, similar to Daniel Lanois' approach to recording vocals. [Interestingly enough, Lanois is another guy who has a reputation for over-producing, but his vocal recording style usually results in a sound that makes the singer seem like he/she is right there in the room with the listener. There are probably LOTS of effects and processors involved, but Lanois uses them to make the vocal sound more natural...not LESS natural.]

On another note, I had the same thoughts about Brian Wilson's transition from SMiLE to Smiley Smile as others did, and I'm happy to hear Lindsey doing something a little different in terms of the music arrangements/production. I don't dislike any of the new songs, but "Shut Us Down" still doesn't do a lot for me because it's nothing new for Lindsey.

I was actually hoping for new or different mixes/versions of "Down on Rodeo" and "Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind." Not that they weren't good already, but, after all this time, I was hoping for some new element to them. I guess, in my mind, this still doesn't feel like a "new" album. I felt the same way about SAY YOU WILL, and, assuming some of the other GIFT OF SCREWS tracks could show up on Lindsey's next "electric" album, it looks like the situation will be the same next time around.

But, again, I'm just happy to have a few previously unheard Lindsey songs...

That's just the nature of the beast when songs get leaked. It's not HIS fault that his "new" songs are already old-hat to a majority of his fans. Most likely, to Lindsey, he thinks ALL the songs are "new" to his fans. Actually, we're to blame if we have unfulfilled expectations of his new album.

I`m not too fond of the idea to first release songs on live outings and then after that put them on a follow up studio thing. Bleed to love her stole the place of another song on SYW, DOR and I am waiting were on the Soundstage DVD. The difference might be that DOR is a great song as studiversion whereas BTLH was boring me. Nevertheless I had liked new ones instead.
Concerning the leaked songs you are right, it is our problem. We have no right to complain. Sometimes we do it nevertheless

I understand your concern, Niki, but there weren't any issues with the mp3s being posted here because the tracks are readily available through Lindsey's official site and anyone who knows how to use the "View Source" option could easily download them from there.

Plus, I'm about 100% positive that anyone who's a big enough fan of Lindsey's to download these tracks, is going to be purchasing the album in October.

Thanks for the note Brian. Not really a concern just not pleased. Obviously nothing I have any control over. If it is acceptable for Lindsey, then it is acceptable for me. I'd be curious his thoughts. Hopefully those that did down purchase the CD. That is all.
