Default Hm, this is odd (Bon Jovi)

...Bon Jovi is performing on some Fsahion Rocks show and he did almost the exact same version of Living on a Prayer that Lukas did on Supernova the other night. (He looks pretty good, in spite of all the plastic surgery)

about Jon Bon Jovi:

from melodicrock.com

JON BON JOVI HEADS TO NASHVILLE:

"I talked of some exclusive Bon Jovi news last week...here it is - a little bit at least. Jon Bon Jovi has set up a small number of songwriting sessions in Nashville during this month. I'm told JBJ has picked 3 writers to work with, on the basis that the songs will be for the next studio Bon Jovi album - set to be a country record after the success of the hit single Who Says You Can't Go Home. A precursor to this could be the inclusion of one of these new tracks on the next Jovi Greatest Hits compilation album, currently due in 2007.

How heavy the country influence will be dictated by what comes out of the song writing sessions, but it is known that JBJ has been a long time advocate for the band crossing over into the very popular and profitable country market.

More news shortly..."

--------------------------

Sorry, but the only thing I hate more than most of the current country music is yet another Bon Jovi Greatest Hits album.

Hey Jon, hate to break bad news to ya "Hairboy" but Richie Sambora's "Stranger in This Town" cd from 1991 (Highly recommended!!!) is better than any Bon Jovi album before 1991 and after 1991. His songwriting is much better than yer Bruce-New-Joisey-wanna-be-lifestyle-dreck

Richie is the only talent in Bon Jovi.

I just saw him on Larry King about a week ago. He did not look like he had plastic surgury, and why would he... He's young for cryin out loud.

But he did say that he was leaning towards a country feel after having the hit.

Even Sheryl Crow on Larry King a couple of weeks ago said she's leaning more towards country then rock... she said rock music doesn't really exsist any longer.

I will say... I've been listening to the country station here for a change of pace (just when the alarm goes off in the morning), and if you took out the slide guitar or whatever it is and the odd violin that they throw in, you essentially have a soft rock song - so the two of them aren't that far apart as far as I'm concerned.

If Jon Bon Jovi is country, then I'm the f*ckin' Pope!
I know that I'm one of the very few peeps here, who like REAL country, but how can ANYONE believe that a pop-metal singer is now going to be a country star?
It's degrading to the genre, and reeks of mass marketing by the pencil pushers. Gaylord Entertainment(CMT, the former TNN, shOpryland, etc...) is the worst thing to ever happen to country music.

I gotta say....I've been thinking the same thing lately. And it's interesting how Sheryl Crow even made that comment that you also mentioned ....

Modern Country music is as homogenized as the music termed "Hair Metal" (A term I hate & dispise) was in the late 80's. Some artists stood out (Motley Crue & Enuff Z'Nuff-Enuff Z'Nuff sounded more like Cheap Trick-meets-the-Beatles than "hair metal") while others sounded faceless when played with other bands of the same genre and/or time period.

Most of the current genre of "country" that is being pushed by the likes of CMT nationally is rather hated in Oklahoma. Artists such as Gretchen Wilson & Big & Rich don't have appeal to the diehard "Real" country music fans here, Most consider them to be "Nashville Rock", not country in the truest since. The only appeal these artists may have is to the younger fans from the ages of 16-24.

Artists such as Sheryl Crow & Bret Micheals (of Poison) have tried to cross over to country and have somewhat failed. Micheals latest solo album, Which was a country album...But I cant remember the title, was a major bomb when it was released last year. Sheryl Crow, who released a country single from her "Greatest Hits" album, had no virtually no airplay here...The few stations that played her lambasted the track or asked fans to call in their opinions, most were rather, uh, "negative" to say the least.

It's funny, The only artist to recently cross-over from country to rock was David Allan Coe, who was/is the singer of the "Rebel Meets Rebel" band & album (The backing band was the late Dimebag Darrell Abbott, Drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott & Bassist Rex Brown-Who were 3/4ths of the band Pantera-The music is equal parts Southern Rock/Outlaw Country/Metal/Blues). It is very cool to see David Allan Coe being shown on MTV2's "Headbanger's Ball" on a weekly basis. When was the last time a near 70-something year old singer was shown in rotation for a metal video, If ever?

I was reading something about Jon in a magazine and they reported that he and his wife live in this massive house with like 10 servants. So that could certainly make one look rested and content without the benefits of plastic surgery.

I believe that's called a fiddle. Also I think that guitar sound is the pedal steel guitar which really gives it away a a "country" song. Stevie had someone play one though, if memory serves on After The Glitter Fades.

I don't know, but I thought that he looked like he'd had a little eye work when he appeared on Ally MvBeal (sorry, couldn't find a better picture):
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Anyway, don't get me wrong- I still think he's hot. I was obssessed with him in the '80s.

whoa, that picture is very odd looking. maybe it's the angle or just because it's grainy.

he is still hot though.

I think JBJ got an eye job, his face stripped, and veneers that are a size too big. But that's all.
I like him, but that country single was not a fave of mine. Nonetheless, I can see why the band would pursue the country thing - they had a number one single on the country charts. I think they see the writing on the wall. They are getting too old to get played on top 40 - and their style of music is out of fashion and may never come back. The mistake is that country is no more forgiving of being an artist over the age of forty. However, at least most of the hit country singles feature people who can sing, have humans playing instruments, and are actually songs. More than I can say for pop music these days. It may be a smart move for him. Could just as well flop.

CMT is currently showing a KID ROCK concert. Now, can somebody explain to me, how Kid Rock is COUNTRY music? Right now, he's doing a song by QUEEN! Country, my ass!

Gaylord is a bunch of douchbag whores. (mini rant off)

Modern country sucks bigtime.
Here in the UK country is not a big seller, but many songs that were big country hits in the States are re-recorded by boybands and pop artists here and make the top 10. Even artists like Shania Twain are remixed on this side of the Atlantic to take any twang out of their songs. They are doing something similar with Keith Urban at the moment, hoping to break him on these shores.
But I think that says a lot about those songs. Take away the fiddles, the slide-guitar and you basically have a pop/rock tune. It would take more than that to take the country out of a Hank Williams song.
Give me old skool country any day.

She's remixed on this side of the Atlantic as well - to appeal to multiple radio formats so you're not alone.
