OH MY GOD I HATE THAT!!!

I'm horrid in public - if someone does that I will NOT move - not until I hear an excuse me. There are some who push through eventually and I can't help but utter, "An excuse me would have worked quite well..." or something.

I hate this too. How about on the sidewalk when walking in opposite directions? So many people just WON'T MOVE. Do you think you can walk through me? I'm going to smack the next person who does this.

See, I don't see what the big deal is about walking is. I'll see that vehicle circling, and I'll park out at the first space I see. Walk all the way into the store, and still see that same vehicle, still looking for the space they want. Wasting gas, and the opportunity for a little exercise!

The other day in a checkout line, I had just finished paying my money, and was putting my groceries into the back of my son's stroller, and I felt daggers behind me. It was very loud, and of course I expected a tiny amount of lag time because I figured anyone behind me would be buying something, but I guess it was also a pass-through aisle for the other cashier or something. So I sensed the daggers, and turned to see a woman glaring. I thought I must have missed her "excuse me" in all the noise.
"Oh, I'm sorry," I said "I didn't hear you behind me!"
"Well! I just didn't know what to say" she said.

Can you believe that? I did something very passive-agressive, but I couldn't help myself: as she passed I told my son, very loudly, "See, Leo, when you need to pass someone, you just say, 'excuse me' and then they know you need to pass. It's the polite thing to do!"

I am sure she went home and told her family how rude I was
Maybe she will post here that her pet peeve is mom's who talk to their children in order to avoid confrontation.

Hopefully she was embarrassed. "I didn't know what to say."? Um, okay, try a repeat of kindergarten then, obviously nothing sunk in the first time around.

I work fast. Really fast. For a basic immunization appointment, I can bring someone in, chat a bit, review their records, fill out paperwork, give the vaccine & bill it in the computer in less than 10 minutes.

Yet some patients still come in & tap their foot or drum their fingers impatiently, tell me that they have to get to class & ask me how long it will take. Well, kiddo, it was going to be about 6 minutes but just for spite, now it's gonna be 20.

People that show up late for appointments. We give them a 10 minute leeway, which I think is more than fair. But I've seen people sauter in 20 or more minutes late & can't understand why we can't just squeeze them in.

Lateness (especially chronic lateness) may very well be my BIGGEST pet peeve

My pet peeves are bad/ignorant parents. If your kid just happens to be spawned from the bowels of hell and insists on running your life at the age of three, then step up, be an adult, and do something about it. I saw a mom at the grocery store shrug off a fellow shopper's complaint when her kid was screaming his head off because he didn't get a candy bar. She shrugged it off like she didn't know what to do.

It comes down to this:
1. Don't pacify your children with candy/tv.
2. The last I heard, spanking wasn't illegal. Not that I advocate beating the **** out of your kids, but discipline needs to be a bit stronger then "time out" or "no nintendo."
3. The counting thing? Sorry guys, it doesn't work. I never even got to "one" before Mom spanked me. Yet still, I always hear:

"Aidan, come here. Aidan, no. Aidan? AIDAN?! Okay...one. Two. THREE. That's it mister, you have time out."

Besides that, I really think that if people need to apply to be married, then they should have to apply to breed. I volunteer to approve/deny all breeding requests. Imagine how history would have changed had this been put in place years ago...

"I'm sorry Mrs. Hilton, but your request is permanently denied on the grounds of irreversible damage to society should you bring an heiress into this world."

^ Preach it, my brother. My next door neighbor is one of "those people." Her kids run around all hours of the day & night, ride bikes without helmets, go in the street all the time, talk back to her & the dad, etc etc etc. OH! And they're 8 & 11 - it's been this way since we moved in 5 years ago. No bedtimes, no discipline.

Any time I've mentioned anything to her (don't get me wrong, I don't go too far, I don't want to get a "what the hell do you know, you don't even have kids" speech) she shrugs & says "they just don't listen..." No ****. When I was 8, if I was seen near the street, I would have been in so much trouble. "They don't listen..." Whatever. When some guy speeding down the road hits your kid... I don't even want to think about it.

And I agree - you need a license to catch a fish, but any asshole can have a child.

And just to add on to that - YOUR kids are not MY f*cking problem. It's YOUR job to make sure they're safe, not mine. How may times have I seen a kid about to fall, or get run over, or get hurt somehow, and the parent is right there saying & doing NOTHING. This has happened at parties I've been to - if I happen to be talking to 1 kid, that does not mean that I'm going to stay inthis area & watch your kid, so don't f*cking take off to get a drink or pee & leave them thre, assuming that since I"m an adult I'll keep an eye on them.

^^

In-freakin'-deed. I am so sick of screaming/badly behaved kids and the parents who do nothing.

There does need to be some sort of parental application process - because this letting anyone have kids thing isn't working out.

I was driving to work the other day - and I saw a woman on a scooter - driving VERY recklessly - no helmet..I thought, "oh well...she's gonna kill herself - it's her problem..." THEN I saw that she had a very small child with her -on her lap...on the scooter - that really disturbed me.

There are tons of unruly kids at my apartment complex - and the parents don't do ****. But then, they're also really rude and disrespectful of others - so their kids aren't learning how to not be assholes.

I have too many unruly kid stories - because it's apparently acceptable nowadays for kids to be in charge...it's disgusting...

Oh no, she had a kid on her lap on a motor scooter?

Cool Dare I add...

those customer service folk at retailers such as Best Buy, who are as clueless as they come.

I know we all, from time-to-time, had to contend with someone who is very clueless as to new music/movie releases...But c'mon folks, could ya better train these kids to assist instead of annoy us paying customers?

I love the bloated jocks they have at the front door in the yellow shirts. I always get the "Hey bud, whats up?" "Can I help you with something guy?" type. What, was there a hiring freeze at Chili's or something?

because saying "hello" is such a mental challenge for 'em (As is tying ones shoe or zipping up their fly), that puttin' 'em elsewhere in the store would be of no use whatsoever
