I recently downloaded You and I part 1 and happened to like it better than part 2, which appeared on Tango. any thoughts?

I dunno, I like it a lot, but as an album cut, it may have felt too much like elevator music. It goes along in the same category as Book Of Miracles. I like Part II better because it just meshes better after When I See You Again. If ended on Part I, it's just lame and mushy...not good.

I agree....Part 1 is really cool.....but not album material, like Part 2 is.
There's not enough........enough........oh, what's the word I'm looking for.........substance..........to Part 1. It's just like......a cool riff....with a few lyrics.....and the word YOU over and over and over and over again........LOL Not that it's bad, cuz it's not at all......just not a piece that should appear on an album. I LOVE listening to it on the other side of my Big Love 45 record single though!!!!!!!!!! Stephanie

I love em both, and I'm just glad they put Part I on SOMETHING, so we could hear it!!
![]() ![]() I know there are people who love WISYA, but I hate it, and it's out of sync with the rest of Tango, if you ask me. It's SO slow, while, everything else is upbeat with the exception of Mystified, but at least that's on the END of side one!! And...I like Mystified!! Maybe, WISYA should have been on the Street Angel CD or something else and not on an FM album.

"When I see you again" is possibly the worst Rumours era Fleetwood Mac song. Stevie's voice was terrible on that one, giving more evidence that she contributed relatively little to that album.

I agree pretty much with everyone. I like both Part I and Part II, but Part II fits on the album better. I also agree about When I See You Again. According to Lindsey, they spent a little over a year recording the album and Stevie was available to them in the studio for about 5 days out of that year. It's no wonder it seems that she didn't really contribute much to the album. She was hardly there at all.

As for the "You and I"'s - something just irritates me about having a part II without a part I. I guess it's my anal nature lol. So I wish they'd have put both on the album or neither. Since there's not much substance to either of them, my vote would be for "neither." However, when choosing, I suppose I'd go with the second part because it's more interesting - though there is one thing I like better on the first part: the meldodic "you..you..you..you" |

"You & I, Part 1" would fit on Tango somewhere if it weren't for "Mystified"...too similar of a sound between those two. "You & I, Part 2" sounds like it should have Christmas themed lyrics.
Anyone else notice the similarity between "You & I, Part 2" & "Soul Drifter"???? ![]() I have to disagree with you Jeffles... "Wecome to The Room...Sara" wins that honor of being the worst Rumours-era Fleetwood Mac song....with the studio version of "Not That Funny" not too far behind. And the ALL-TIME "Fleetwood Mac stinkers" (only songs released on albums...single B-sides not included): "When You Say"-Then Play On "I'm A Road Runner"-Penguin "Not That Funny"-Tusk (the live version is great, tho') "Welcome To The Room...Sara"-Tango In The Night "The Second Time"-Behind The Mask Five songs out of a nearly 35 year career...not to shabby. |

I totally agree with chili's list... though I think I would add just about any Jeremy Spencer song (man, do those ever wear thin!), with "I Believe My Time Ain't Long" being a major exception.
I think I'd also add "Empire State" to that list... but I'd remove "The Second Time," which I think can be quite moving. As for "You And I, Part 1"... i love that track. I include it on just about every Mac mix-tape I make. But again, I have to agree with chili... to have included it on the album itself, it might have been just a bit too similar to "Mystified" to really be affecting. Oh, and I'm sorry but "When I See You Again" is far from rubbish. I know a lot of people can't get past the repetition of the line, "what's the matter, baby"... but that's very integral to the emotion behind the song. Her former lover is the first to ask the question, but by the time she's finished reciting it, she is now asking herself. She's broken-hearted... she's worn out... she's despondent... she's at her wit's end... but she's looking for that little glimmer of hope. Like I've said before, don't just listen to it... experience it. "When I See You Again" moves me even more than "Landslide" does. Johnny Stew

The "Good" Jeremy Spencer Elmore James covers:
Shake Your Moneymaker Got To Move Doctor Brown Coming Home I Believe My Time Ain't Long The bad ones: If more than two of the above are on the same album. (read: "Mr. Wonderful") One is fine, but it's like a Chuck Berry album where every song starts sounding the same, except different lyrics. ![]() If they'd have just released his first solo album as the second platter of a "Then Play On" double-album, history might have been changed! ![]() "When I See You Again"...too many "Baby...baby"s, and her voice is relatively shot, but other than that, I do agree that it DOES have a bit more powerful tone than "Landslide". Sorry, Johnny..."The Second Time" is a stinker...but, like just about every song; to one, it's a stinker, to another it's a rose with various olfactory shades in-between. |

Awww, I guess I'm in the minority for liking I Don't Want to Know. Can't beat the harmonies. I loved it before I knew it took the place of Silver Springs and I refuse to let that knowledge ruin my enjoyment of the song.
I see Empire State get a lot of abuse too, but that one has grown on me exponentially since I first bought Mirage years ago. On the whole, Lindsey's Mirage songs and Stevie's Tango songs seem to carry the reputation as being FM's red-headed step children. (No offense intended to red heads or step-children; it's just an expression. ) |

I like I Don't Want to Know AND Empire State, but the stinkers I don't ever listen to are Sugar Daddy (it's probably a fun song if I could just get into it, but I just CAN'T!!
) and WISYA (It's such a downer of a song for the mostly upbeat Tango album, I just can't get into it either, should have been on a solo album or something), but pretty much EVERY OTHER SONG in the FM catalog, I love and adore. That's AWESOME!!

Well...I found this song just the day after I listened Part II. Then I downloaded it with and excellent sound, and I really enjoyed it!
You know, lyrics are not long, but combination of voices, with a good intro and rythm are enough. I like to listen together! For me, is the 12th song of the Tango In The Night album. It's just one of my favourites! Regards |

Love You and I parts 1 & 2.
LOVE When I See You Again. It took me awhile. At first, I did think it was the most ridiculous song ever recorded...but, if you listen to those whatsamatterbabies--each one is different. Each one presents a different level of pain and concern. It's absolutely a brilliant performance. But, you have to "keep your heart open and your eyes shut tight" to get it (IMO). |
