eh, the thought that i may have lost wild-childness makes me sad, not glad. so i think i shall recapture it! i feel too cautious and (self-) controlled, but not in a healthy way. dude, i love all these pics. LOVE 'em. how old are you in that one?

i have no idea why i'm dressed like this ... it might have been a piano recital or something:

That could be the new masterpiece. Nice dress, nerdo!!!! Sooo cute.
I was 11. There was a softball tournament in Stockton that summer, which was convenient b/c my grandma and fam lives there, and I went every summer.
I know, everything you turn into after the age of 8 sucks. It's because you grow up, and you are supposed to be controlled, and people make you feel weird for being free and sassy. There is an appropriate way to become an adult without losing that, I just don't know what it is. But I've always thought "everyone" was boring, even when I was little. Then when you grow up, everyone is even more boring. So it makes you feel like you should be controlled and proper and be happy being that way.
I dunno, I don't have the answer. I always thought I would grow up and be a famous actress, so, problem solved. Actors can totally twack out, and it's okay.
I'm not sure the exact way that you don't feel free and sassy. I think the difference with me is that when I was little I was a tiny little assmonkey, and didn't care what people thought, or notice - but now that I'm grown - when I'm an assmonkey the repercussions are more severe, so I feel like I have to not assmonkey as much.

Oh, and if you are type O blood, you shouldn't really eat wheat. Otherwise that meal sounds awesome. Try to get a bunch of good veggies in your burrito, and get some boca ground if you can.

Not sure what year this is from - 3rd grade maybe? Um yeah, note the F-ed up teeth. My two front teeth came in in the shape of a V and pushed everything out of alignment. So not long after this photo I got stuck with braces, after that came the glasses... can we say "dork"?

Also note the fake smile. I never liked picture day.

Super cute! I am particularly intrigued by the item on top of the TV(?) that looks like a cowrie shell wearing a gnome hat.
That couch is like one of those embroidered jackets C&W stars wear. Is it shiny from satin, or (gasp) plastic?
And, of course, I love a little kid talking on the phone. In a picture, but please not on the outgoing message!

So, all of you are such darling little ones! I love kid pix! Amber, you have great smiling eyes, Carrie, you look so sweet, and silly.

I am late, but I really wanted to post in response to the feathered hair. Those girls with the perfectly feathered hair were all over my Southern California school, but I had waves when waves were not cool, and I didn't know what to do with them. They grew out in finger waves, like the kind silent film stars had. Wavy hair brought me grief until the middle 80's.

I didn't crop out the couch, I wanted you all to check out the yellow vinyl and chrome number in our 70's apartment. Oh yes!

Wow! YOu really do have the movie star waves! Didn't you do stuff with your curling iron that made your hair feather? I had super curly bangs, but could make them feather.
You look really pretty.
Why'd ya have to make me look at yellow vinyl? Why?
Oh, new part of story - my mom wouldn't let me use hairspray until junior high. Clorophlorocarbons or something.

see, i was an assmonkey, and i still am an assmonkey, actually. i am always the weird one, the funny one, the crazy one, the one people laugh at because they don't want to be the weird one, and i love it because i am not boring and i almost always have a good time no matter what. i guess i mostly feel reserved physically, because i have gained weight the last several years, so i don't run and play and do sports as much as i used to. i love sports. in fact, softball is my game of choice - are you sure you aren't my west-coast doppelganger?

hm, you know, i read that about wheat & type o blood, but i honestly have no idea what type blood i have. i should look that up tomorrow.

Nah, I didn't even know how to braid my hair until junior high, when someone showed me. Hair spray didn't even occur to me, and I never had a curling iron. The thing is that I liked my hair(I loved old movies) I just knew that others didn't. Later, I figured out that twisting my hair let it dry smooth, and then I wore it over one eye, like Veronica Lake, which still wasn't cool.

I want to tell you that we had an orange shag rug under our chrome and glass table, in front of that yellow vinyl couch!!!

oh gawd, i didn't even notice that! now i wonder what that is ... i should ask my g-ma, since that's a picture of her house. heehee, the couch is shiny from satin. i'm always surprised when people let their very young kids answer the phone ... just seems unwise to me ...

Your mom should know. Your blood type.

Twins!
Look at your dimples! Wow!

I don't feel reserved physically, but that is the only way. Thank god. Because the physical is my most important thing. But, I still have to see how people think I'm totally weird when I talk. You know, you think you said something normal, but when you look at people you can see in their eyes you said something weird...

Hey, my grandma had yellow shag carpet.
I think it's cool that you wore your hair like Veronica Lake even though it wasn't cool. And I can totally see how your hair would be perfect at that. It's too bad super feathers confounded so many of us....

haha! you're totally my doppelganger. you even have the darker complexion/hair to complement my blondeness (although i'm not blonde anymore). and i cannot tell you HOW many times that has happened to me - you're all "blah," and they're like, "srsly?" and you're all, "****!"

i was, when i could actually get a pitch in my strike zone! i was v. young/small for fast pitch when i first moved up to that league, so getting them to pitch in my strike zone was murder. it was very satisfying when i actually didn't have to walk, tho!

I like pics of kids at that age, most of them have teeth all askew, and too big.
You have pretty hair/eyes—cute kid.
