I woke up today to see on the news that a plane had been diverted to Boston, with fighter jet escort, because a passenger had pulled out a "screwdriver, matches, and a note referring to Al Qaeda".
30 minutes later we learned that the passenger had none of those items, but was claustrophic and became unruly. These are same cable news folks that told us all the West Virginia miners were found alive. Maybe someday there will be adherence to a standard of confirming news before it is reported? |

And that's why I'm so drawn to NPR ..they hold strict to their ethics and standards and don't deliver on sensationalistic bull****....and they don't do the speculation thing. |

Well it's so watered down - and nowadays news is more entertainment than actual news...and people nowadays are less interested in learning and more interested in being entertained. It's sad. So they probably won't stop watching, it'll just get worse and worse, though I can't imagine they could tell you LESS than they already do in television news. Working so closely with commercial television reporters in Rochester did NOT help my opinion on the medium. |
