As my sister says,

"No matter how bad it makes him feel to hear it now, someday Alex's wife will thank me for telling him that underwear is not toilet paper..." Alex is my little nephew - and well he was feeling bad about not being able to wipe all that well - tough break kid ya gotta learn!!!

You rock. So does your sister.

To whit - I had my problems with my father, but he kicked my ass. Thank God he was an Army man. Hated him for it then, love him for it now.

If I didn't stand up straight - a thump in the back with a knuckle.

If I drug my feet - a smack on the ass.

Break curfew ? Home by 7 for a week. Extra school activities be damned. Break that one ? It was a month.

Bad grades ? Study from after school till bedtime. And he checked on me.

Talk back to my parents ? HA. A backhand or the soap.

I broke each rule ONCE. Never again. The punishment was swift and brutal.
Follow the rules ? Freedom and praise.

The result ? Straight A's in school, perfect credit, no criminal record, and a pretty damned good life. Oops. Not sensitive enough for current political climate. Ah well. It was a good trade.

It's about the only thing that makes me want to be a parent.
Such things would probably get a parent sued or thrown in jail now.

So OT, but I was inspired.

Not many men fit for that job.

Many will be called, few will be chosen.

Lest you forget, Le Sparky has been within less than an inch of my tongue and he knows I can issue a lashing with it. Actually, I believe I mad him gasp if not gag while telling several stories.
