I've seen a LOT of "personal insults" on this board just simply get ignored. What makes this one any different?

I'm somewhere between Hangar-On and General fanboy. I don't always like what they do, and can usually point to a lot of mistakes, both musical and business, the band's made over the years. Still, I keep coming back.

Admittedly, "personal insult" can be a bit of a grey area. The majority of our regular posters are friends though and will sometimes call each other "bitch," etc., in a joking fashion. However, when a term like that is used between two users who aren't friends, then it comes across much differently and raises a flag.

I'd like to add that, while it may appear that other "personal insults" go ignored, we often contact the party/parties via Private Message. Since it's done in private, I guess it can be misconstrued as being ignored.
In this particular situation, since the tone of the post was difficult to determine, I felt I should comment in the thread before there was the chance for an argument to break out.

I hope that clears things up.

I read through the entire thread before responding to this, so I did see your post explaining that the above statement was meant in jest - and I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and believe that you aren't just saying that to cover your ass - but I'd like to ask that, in the future, you refrain from doing this again.

You say that JohnnyStew "knows you" and therefore should know that you didn't mean any harm (although he was still obviously unsure) but I don't know you and you gave no indication in that post that you meant it as a joke. Now, I like to think that I have a good sense of humor and a pretty thick skin, but it is very very easy for things to be misinterpreted on a messageboard and my initial reaction was not this:
