Default my mini-dv camcorder failed..

I have a Samsung scd103 videocam. mini-dv tape format, 2years old.

I played a just recorded film and it showed the image with lines (wide lines) and a sound like a humming.

a friend of mine told me to rewind and forward completely the tape. Twice. It worked, however when I played again, later just for few secounds the failure appeared again, and then dissapeared. don't know it it's the camera, dirty heads, the motor, etc.

Does anyone have experience with this troubles? any tip before i go to repair it?

Not to be sarcastic, but trade it in for a JVC 20 gig hard drive camcorder. You'll never regret it.

I bought one just prior to going to Disney, and I absolutely love it too! No changing disks or tapes, no worrying if you have enough space. They're wonderful.

How much was yours if you don't mind me asking? They're pretty pricey over here...

Suprisingly, it was on sale for around $450. I think after buying a warranty and a larger battery, I spent around $600.

I think they screwed up. After they realized what price it was, they wouldn't give me my company discount! hahaha! I stole it from 'em anyway!

Hi,sorry chiming in late,I repair electronic equipment for a liviing.the first thing I try is a new tape, if you get the same result, It probably need to get the heads cleaned with a dv head cleaning tape,if that does not work, you might have to bring it to get fixed at the Samsung sevice center for $60.00 or more.
I would checkout the harddrive camera.it's easier to use with the computer.
instead running a whole tape to edit.
