I hate when it ends with penalties. Whole Argentina must be crying. BuaaaaHH me too, I like them.

Now let's see Brasil, and England. I like both

I am so proud to be a German right now! Argentina showed they were overrated and deserved to not make it any further. I watched the penalty kicks and my grandmother would've made better kicks than those pansies for Argentina that missed. Then at the end of the match Argentina showed their true sore loser colors by trying to stir things up. Well, theyre going back to Agrentina, which as far as I'm concerned is exactly where they deserve to be! My whole family was watching at my house. It was just great. Then my uncle called form Munich after the match. As for the semi-finals, as far as I'm concerned it doesnt matter who wins between Ukraine and Italy. Ukraine is lucky to even be where they are and Italy is EXTREMELY overrated as far a I can see it. I would love to see Brazil in the final so we can avenge 2002. But England would be nice as well. Ha! my mom just put the German flag up outside our house nxt to the american one.

ON DEUTSCHLAND!!!

I was supporting Germany through the whole game but I wouldn't go that far. Argentina proved they are a remarkable team at present. Whenever it goes to the shoot out I would consider that a statement that either team were good enough to go through. It came down to the nerves and split-second decisions of the keepers, one of whom was a substitute, keeping in mind. It really was an even match making it all the more exciting. I say that as a keen Germany supporter too. My mother is German and my father is British and both sides are in excitement mode although my father is the one who gets to be in Germany at the moment. I'll be cheering just as hard for England and if they win I won't know who to cheer for.

I guess I just got a little excited! I was very dissapointed with those 2 penalty kicks they missed though. Both of them were not very good at all. The match was very exciting to watch I agree. Do you think Argentina having to change their goalkeeper so late had a big affect. With Germany scoring in the 80th minute I think it did, although I dont think anyone couldve stopped that header.

I was too busy jumping about to see the replays of the header. I think Germany did have the advantage in the shoot out, Lehmann is the hero for sure.

Let's be fair, Argentina was definitely not overrated. They showed a lot of strength and thank God the German team was equally strong, otherwise this would've been the end. As far as the penalty kicks are concerned, Argentina wasn't THAT bad either - in the end, it was also a question of luck, at least in THIS match.

And on a lighter note, you apparently didn't read one of my previous posts... it's DeutSchland, for crying out loud! As a proud German you should know.

I fixed it. Thank you for pointing that mistake out to me. And yes I am embarrased!

Argentina were the better side. "How can you say that", I hear you cry... They behaved like sides who know how good they are often do. They dominate, score a goal, then sit back and wait for the final whistle. Mistake #1. Then the coach takes off his best player and makes some dodgy substitutions. Mistake #2. The coach has already quit, by the way, before the tsunami of Argentine anger hits him...

The goalkeeper having to be taken off must have upset their balance a lot too. I used to play in goal, and it is extremely difficult to come on in the middle of a game and find the rhythm of your team and connect with your defenders, all of whom are worried that you're nervous. Germany will also have been encouraged by it. And then to face a penalty shoot-out - well, the guy was under major pressure. On top of that, they faced the best penalty shoot-out specialists in the game. Germany are just near-impossible to beat at penalties, they just seem to have iron nerves.

Argentina threw it away, and even though Germany were often dominated, they never gave up. They have a great chance to win the Cup - they'll meet Italy (who are currently blowing Ukraine away) in the semis. I'm just disappointed because all the sides I like to watch are now out

It was a good game, but the whole penalty shots aspect of the game is bull****. It cheapens the game, IMO. I say they just play until someone scores. But thats me. Other than that, it was an exciting, fun game to watch!

Yeah, I agree - a penalty shoot-out is an awful way to lose a game, but fans generally love it, even though the players hate it. Last time they had a system whereby you play half an hour's extra time and the first team to score wins the game, and the game ends right there and then - but they dropped it for this tournament. Not really sure why, maybe fans complained?

We've beaten easily Ukraine 3 -0 so we'll have Germany in the semifinal and we're very very motivated against them. By the way, it would be extremely tough to beat them. We'll see.
