Flooding out east

I mean what the hell is going on here?!?! I just heard all of Pennsylvania was declared a disaster area. This sounds pretty bad.

Really? I hadn't heard that. Hope all the PA Ledgies are safe and dry.

I thought most of the bad stuff was happening up in northeast PA by Scranton. Thats why that surprised me

They ordered the entire city of Wilkes-Barre evacuated. Fortunately, the levees held & it looks like it's going to be OK. But, there's flooding around the entire state. It had been raining almost non-stop since Friday. This is the most rain we've had where I live since I can remember. Right now it's clear & the sun actually shone today. Believe it or not, there is still a drought watch in place now. I assume that will be lifted soon.

Don't forget about us NYers on the PA border! The was a house floating down the river not too far from me ........ and a restaurant further in Central NY crumbled right into a creek.

I know. Now the problem is along the Delaware River. And, it rained here again last night.

Although I am in New Hampshire...we have clearly seen our share of rain this spring/summer!!

I'm in Bucks County, which is just north of Philly right along the Delaware and many of our communities are seriously flooded out, some of which have flooded three times in the last 21 months. These are supposedly "100-year-floods."

I believe that the Delaware is a largely uncontrolled river, ie no dams or other measures of flood control along the way, so everything just runs down--and over. Experts also blame the enormous amount of development in the area and in areas north.

Whatever, it's a real mess.

In fact I live on a dead end street that ends at one of the creeks that always floods, but we are much too high to get flooded. though I've always been glad we don't have a basement.

One of the creepiest aspects of heavy flooding is that snakes are mostly good swimmers. The thought of a rattler swimming past your nose is creepy & horrific.

WHat about those Austrailan Sea Snakes? I've heard theyre the most poisionous in the world.
