And another one, which Im sure has been mentioned before, is "Beauty & the Beast" by our Stevie - it makes me well up every time

Ooh, y'know what ... I actually don't like BATB. I know that's totally sacrilege, but it doesn't do a lot for me, especially the studio version. I like *watching* her sing it, because she gives it her all, but I almost always skip it.

EDIT: Do I still get to be a chiffonhead?

Dammit!! Looks like I have to slink over to the Chris forum ... Another excommunicated chiffonhead.

Since we're on the topic, I think Chris fans need a name. I nominate "sugar daddies."

Good idea - since you are no longer a honorary ChiffonHead, you have to start your own group

That's a good one. If we're talking Joy Division, I'd like to add "Atmosphere" to the list if Gaius hasn't already .

As for "beautiful", I'm going with Neil Finn (with the NZ Symphony Orchestra) performing Message To My Girl. I would also consider The Beatles' early number In My Life to be "beautiful". I saw Never Tear Us Apart mentioned, that one is hard to deny.
The Ninth is beautiful to me because I sang it and I swear when I hear it, it is as if LVB knew the sound of the voice of God. But, I agree the power is there as well. I also love his Fifth.

Interestingly, I think Mozart's Clarinet Concerto is way up there in beauty as well.

I won't list FM/Stevie songs. Well, yes I will- BATB, HAEWAFY, Beautiful Child.

Why (Annie Lenox)
Circle of Friends (Edie Brickell)
Skin (Beth Hart)
My Heart Will go On (Celine Dion)- I think that listing this song shows my comfort level here on The Ledge- please don't slam me over this song- it tears me up everytime I hear it.
Yesterday (The Beatles)
The Rose (Bette Midler) <<<--- someone listed that already, I think.
The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face (Roberta Flack)
Memory (Barbra Streisand)
The Way We Were (Babs)
Seventeen (Ian Janis)
Dog and Butterfly (Heart)

Okay, I'll stop now.
