Default U.S Open Golf

I know not too many people are golf fans here, but watching the finish of yesterdays open was utterly fascinating. I mean you ahkd Colin Montgomerie, who I really thought would finally win his first major fall on his ass ans well as Phil Mickelson, who for some reason on the 18th hole reverted to the form that kept him from winning a major for so long. Then to add some more spice you had Jim Furyk, the 2003 winner, fall apart at the end too. All that left mr Jeff Ogilvy as the winner. Reminded me so much of Jean Van De Velde at eh 1999 British open.

I watched it. Mickelson simply choked. He's never going to have such a good opportunity(with no Tiger) as he had yesterday. I was rooting for him or Montgomerie, who deserves to win at least one major in his life. I can see how they could be so nervous though. I was nervous watching them.

I find it unfortunate too that Jeff Ogilvy will be more remembered for winning because of others collapses. While that may be true, he DID make a 25 foot chip off the green on 17 to save par. SO he didnt totally benefit from others misfortunes. I was really surprised that Phil, with 2 Masters and 1 PGA Championship under his belt, would revert to his old form, but that's what makes it fun to watch. You just never know!

I'm a huge Phil fan. My husband looks just like Phil. It is really kinda scary. Everyone thinks so, therefore we both root for Phil.

Now on subject, I hate that he messed up, but I don't think that you can call it a "choke" anymore. He has now won several major tournments. He has proven himself to be one of the best golfers on the tour. I think that he simply just messed up, but I wouldn't label him a "choker" anymore.

Maybe, "choke" was a little harsh. But, he wasn't thinking clearly. After hearing some of his interview after the final round, I think he just wanted it almost too much. He should have played the percentages. That's what Nicklaus & Woods would have done. But, Phil is more like Arnold Palmer. I hope he comes back & wins some more majors. He's a great player & he's fun to watch.

I agree. Phil is "balls to the wall." There is no doubt about it. That is why it is hard to be his fan sometimes, because he is like "percentages?"
