That is pretty traumatic. (Paula).

I'm sorry, but when I'm just riding around on my bike, doing errands of a grocerial or book buying nature, around the scruff town that is Berkeley, there is no way I'm going to care what shoes i'm wearing. Especially since everyone else is wearing them, too. And I'm just going to be sweaty, anyway. Or in Chico, when every single person, including me, has come straight from the river to the restaurant - I'm not going to feel too badly about being in my thongs, or even that I'm one of the fifty other people who still has their swimsuit top on under their tank top.
And if your underwear is constantly up your butt, you have to pull it out sometime, dontcha?

Edit - Jellies are definitely ugly, and may be tacky as well.

Ha! I loved them when I was 10 , I had every color imaginable. In a word, I thought they were hot **** .

But really, some 80's fashion really needs to stay dead, not everything is subject for revival. And anyway, jellies make your feet sweat which is gross and uncomfortable.

I hate them, I can't believe they're back "in." Saw someone wearing them with socks.

Point taken. I guess it depends on your environment (although Towie won't agree.) I could see wearing them a lot in CA, coming back from the beach & such. But in Buffalo? A summer concert, a festival, a picnic - sure. Work, a nice restaurant, a gradutaion? Tacky. And when I see people dressed to the nines for a wedding or dinner party, and they have on drugstore flipflops? Sorry, that's tacky.

Nooooo...I'm vehemently against socks and sandals - that is WRONG!! If you want your feet covered wear shoes!!!

But I do love my birkenstocks though there are some really ugly varieties.

Paula...PDAs....ok...my sister, grandma and I were in line at the Statue of Liberty and there was this couple in front of us you were totally getting it on..well not totally - but they were basically dry humping right there in line...my grandma kept YELLING the following, "Oh my GOD...He's going to pull his thing out right here!!!" and "Well she'll have a surprise in nine months..." and "I miss your grandpa" lol....it was funny - but at the same time disgusting as these people were still going at it...what's more disturbing is that appeared to be in their mid to late teens. Yuck.

Some things look fine on youngens, but adults shouldn't wear them. Jellies are those things.

Paula - thongs with dress atire?!?!?!?! Never seen it, hope I never do.

I hated jellies as a kid -and hate them today. Never got that trend, although I did have a pair - I remember wearing them once - that was it.

I agree with Amber, some trends may be fine for kids - doesn't mean adults should latch on.

Any song they come up with is usually pretty hilarious. One of my favorites is the one from the special olympics episode. They should release a compilation of all the South Park songs!

First of all, I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I said OBESE, not chubby. I mean 150 lbs over weight, not 15. I just don't understand where people get the balls to wear bathing suits in public when they are morbidly obese. They know everyone is looking at them and they know what everyone are thinking (and don't pretend that you don't). I'm about 10 lbs over weight and I wouldn't be caught dead in a bathing suit in public, but that's just me (and I probably need to get over that, I know). Why is it that we can make fun of people that don't bath or use deodorant and stink but god forbid we mention someone who is overweight. Again I'm sorry.

And Paula, I'm sorry if I offended your plastic white lawnchairs and I have 2 friends not 4. You and Mark.

Now see, that's just mean. I would NEVER say it to their face, just behind their back
