I finally got it. Thank you so much.

I am sitting here shivering. I have tears rolling down my cheeks. Those f*cking harmonies. Jesus.

Teehee. Too cute how Tom messed up the timing at the end.

I know - esp. in the last half of the song. Her vocal is so strong, clear, and high

Dude, I know! I did not expect her to do the high harmony, I thought sure she'd go low. Most pleasant vocal surprise since Sleeping Angel in '98 and Beautiful Child in '03.

If anyone has a chance to see the show, you definitely should. Stevie was having a blast and Tom and the boys put on a great show.
I think your recording sounds great - clear voices, not muffled. It felt like I was right there next to you.

Thanks very much for sharing! I'm off to listen to it again - I cried the whole way through the first time.

It's truly a fantastic version, they sound so great together. Thanks so much Mike for the recording!

FYI: Got this from the Petty board - these cities are listed on the back of the t-shirts being sold last nite (Austin is Sept. 17, so you can guesstimate from there):

Austin
Atlanta
Gainesville
LA
San Diego
Berkeley
Phoenix
Sacramento
Indian Wells CA

Whoa.

That was absolutely stunning. Stevie's voice was just gorgeous.

Thanks so much for sharing this, Mike!

HELLA!!!!

However, sadly, I doubt Stevie would show up in Berkeley or Sac. Especially as if he is playing in Berkeley, it would be at the Greek (like last time)...it just doesn't seem like she'd go to that small of a venue - it would be way to cool of her.
God, I just want to write her and say "please, please, please, please, please, please - I've been waiting all my soul to hear Insider, live..."

I hope he plays the Greek! I've been kicking myself for not going last year. Maybe if Stevie has fun during these initial shows, she'll do the west coast regardless of venues. I'd think she'd want to do the Bay Area show. And maybe it cause her to say "wow, I should play these smaller venues".

Anyway, I'll add that to my prayers, but right now just hoping that Insider doesn't get cut. I'm really feeling like doing Insider was Tom's idea and that he was able to convince/inspire Stevie. Instead of being like "why don't you wear a frumpy cardigan so that you're not all flashy next to me" or "why didn't you thank me", he was probably sat down with her over lunch at the Ritz in Charlotte and was like "Stevie, come on, your voice is in top form and you just have to have confidence. My people tell me the internet is buzzing with fans who want to hear Insider. Let's give them a treat. You can do it."

He does know her better than she knows herself.

^ Get out of my head, man!

I'm a bit worried it may be dropped. Of course, it's Tom's show, NOT Stevie's, so he's the decider. I know he's always said he loves this song, he couldn't give it to Stevie for one of her albums, he just had to keep it. So I'm hoping (since he pointed out at this show that he loves it & never gets to play it live) that he'll insist it stays.
