Let's see, that is an estimated average of 1 in 6 in this state of 3 million who need food...Not a good figure.
That was my point but probably wasn't explained well. The nation as a whole (not each individual) is wealthy and privileged compared to so many others. Which means that we should be able to ensure that all citizens have health care, food, and basic shelter. Not only is the 1 in 6 in Oklahoma not a good figure, it is a national disgrace.

but during the 90's this state's economy bit the dust, It has never really recovered (Most in Oklahoma blame Clinton's signing of NAFTA for the death knell for the Oklahoma economy). Imagine how hard it is now for those who cannot afford the current gasoline prices when they cant afford to feed their families...Sure dont see our federal govt. giving a flying donkey trot about it.

Most Indian tribes are able to care for their members, so they do not have to be without food if they apply for commodities (We can qualify for 'em, but since we can afford food I dont want to take food that could feed someone else)...However the state government do not have the $$$ to care for everyone else, So the black, white & other citizens suffer (It's total BS when the state's school teachers & state employees want yet another pay raise, when the state cannot even feed it's citizens.)

depends on if they have invested wisely or not. The most successful tribes in Oklahoma take their profits from Casinos/Resorts and reinvest it in helping their members.

The Five Civilized Tribes of Oklahoma (Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, Chickasaw & Seminole) have hundreds of millions of dollars, Where as tribes such as the Kiowa's (Which are based in this town) have next to nothing.

Matter of fact the Creek Nation is opening a $96 million expansion of their casino in Tulsa, and the Chickasaw tribe is opening a huge casino directly off of I-35 (Fact-The Chickasaw Nation owns all the land that borders either side of I-35 from the Norman city limits all the way to the Texas state line, Over 100+ miles of interstate access.)
