So are you moving to Colorado or something? You need to get out of Rochester--sounds like they have **** for food . One good thing about that though is that you're forced to eat at home so you don't have to worry about going out to eat and putting on a lot of weight . I know it's hard to move from a place that has fabulous eateries to a place that, well, doesn't. I hate to think about ever having to move away from Austin for that very reason!

Yeah, well we do have Tim Horton's & Mighty Taco. So there.

I love, btw, that this has turned into a discussion about fast food. Seems like old times here at The Ledge.

I know...but sadly eating at home hasn't helped me in the weight department...because of the winter's I'm not used to and the fact that I eat horribly I've gained 30 pounds since moving here I'm just sick about it - but know it's my fault - and I know what I did to get here - so now I'm starting to creat better habits.

THat will not be helped by the fact that I'm moving back to the west (yes, I'm moving to Colorado) where they have all the familiar things I love, Dairy Queen, Village Inn, Sonic, Chik-Fil-A.

There's no Dairy Queens in Roch? Really? There's a ton here - mostly just ice cream, but there are a few that serve food too. Sadly, no White Caslte, Sonic or Chik-Fil-A.

Did you mean there are now MT's there, or there are no MT's there? Either way, you'd probably hate it, it's definitely fast food (although I hate Taco Bell & Love MT.)

Never been to Timmy Ho's? Heathen! The donuts are OK, the muffins are good, the soup & sandwich combos are really good. I'm not big on coffee, but their English toffee cappucino is to die for, and so are their frozen cappuccinos.

I used to love WCs. Either they're not as good as they used to be, or my taste has changed. Of course they're best when you're drunk! I drive right by WC. I only stop about once a year...

No Mighty Taco. Just confirmed with the boys in the newsroom who says they're only in Buffalo lol.

T Hos...well maybe I'll go to one this weekend for soup and a sandwich - two things I enjoy. I just don't like going to places with donuts because I get so damn tempted...and well, 30 pounds later I just cannot go up another clothing size. I refuse.

Do you guys have Taco Cabana up there? Man, that place puts Taco Bell to shame--it's much fresher and tastier and they actually serve meals, even margaritas! That's kind of an anomaly for fast food chains. I REALLY wish Texas would get back with Del Taco! They used to have 'em here, but not anymore. I think Del Taco kicks Taco Bell's ass too .

Some guys tried to open a Del Taco here (in Rochester) years ago, it failed miserably. I have not seen any Taco Cabanas...pretty much all we have here is Taco Bell - which I refuse to go to

That sucks. You'll lose the extra weight, just create a health plan and stick to it. And also, stay away from fast food. I know it's hard, but man, it really packs on the poundage like nobody's business! When I quit eating fast food (for the most part) I lost a good 15-20 lbs. Oh and beer, I stopped drinking beer [for the most part ]:---maybe that was it .

Why doesn't that surprise me ? Sounds like the Rochester folk wouldn't know tasty food if it hit them in the head .

Yeah, Taco Bell is slop pure and simple.

I think you still get the best tacos (usually soft are more authentic) from those little holes-in-the-walls taquerias that dot the landscape. Of course, you have to be careful about which ones you eat at.

There's a little taqueria here run by a mom & pop from Mexico. It's very clean & cheap, too. Mama takes your money & papa prepares your food to order. Great horchata, too! There's no better thirst quencher than horchata over ice with nutmeg sprinkled atop.

Also, I agree about the small places. Sadly, Atlanta has few of those.
