Lindsey, Mick Shave Clean

Wasn't it weird the way both Lindsey & Mick shaved their beards & mustaches for the 1978 tour?

I think the Lindsey-Mick relationship was musically the most important relationship within Fleetwood Mac at this point. There would never have been a "Tusk"--or anything even remotely like it--without Lindsey & Mick at that time. For a long time, I have known that their friendship extended musically & personally, & proved to be the rudder of the band which steered the band into this important transitional phase.

But it's only recently that I have begun to think that this friendship--this alliance--also manifested itself in their physical appearance. At some point between March & June 1978, Lindsey & Mick each shaved off all his facial hair, & one can't help thinking that both gestures were done with some sort of kinship & sense of new musical purpose.



Of course the silly shippers (the sort of people who buy books on secret codes in the Bible) will attribute this shaving to something having to do with Stevie Nicks, who was out of Lindsey's personal life at this point & bedding down with Mick. But their ideas about meaning & symbolic import can be almost completely dismissed.

I don't know, Stevie liking clean shaven men isn't completely out of the realm of possibility..now there's an interesting thread starter.... ..hmmmm..incidently, out of those two chaps above, there's def one, wwaaaaaay more gorgeous than the other...

Okay, I will just not say anything then. If you want to believe Lindsey cutting of his hair with nail clippers has anything to do with music, be my guest.
