22-year-old “American Idol” runner-up Katharine McPhee said in a recent MTV interview that she felt her “Idol” participation helped her career, even if she only got second place.
After Tuesday’s finale, when Taylor Hicks was crowned the new Idol, McPhee said that she felt like she had done the best she could. “I said to somebody that I don't think I'm going to win, but if I do that'd be great — but if I don't that'd be great too. I don't want any sad faces or people feeling bad for me. That'd be silly. I got a record deal, I got a new car. I got all these great new shoes and fans and really wonderful people in my life,” the Sherman Oaks, California, native said. She also praised the winner, saying that he was the embodiment of the American dream. “He definitely knows how to get a crowd going, and that was something I knew he had from the very beginning. There's something very exciting about him when he performs, and he's kinda got the American dream story,” she explained. However, she did admit that life on the road for the American Idols Live tour might take its toll on the relationships between the ex-contestants. Simon Cowell praised the 22-year-old singer, calling her rendition of "Over the Rainbow" the best performance of the season, but apparently she didn’t even realize it. “I thought he said, ‘The best performance you had this night.’ I didn't really hear wholly what he said, and actually my dad later that night was like, ‘Did you know that he said it was the best performance of the season?’" The music industry was also discussed, with McPhee admitting she hadn’t known much about Meat Loaf before the finale. “I knew the name but didn't know what he looked like or anything,” she said. But her idol when it comes to a musical career is someone else: Barbra Streisand. According to the California native, Streisand gives a perfect example of a “well-rounded career,” which is what she is aiming for, too. And just like Streisand, she doesn’t plan to stop at music. “I definitely want to do movies. I know it sounds clichéd, but we'll see how [those plans] play out.” http://www.playfuls.com/news_0000442...lishments.html

I like her comments about being happy and grateful for where she is. That's cool. but how does she not know anything about Meatloaf? that's just strange. and of course, any Streisand ticket holding friend of Dorothy...well...is a friend of mine.
I still don't like her tho. |

Good for her. Sounds like she's got a level head on her shoulders.
