I don't know about the US - but CD/DVD sales in New Zealand only count as a sale - not the amount shipped

Am I seeing things or are seven of the ten songs on this CD also featured on The Dance, released just seven years earlier? Am I hearing things, or are six of those seven songs (all but "Rhiannon") presented in arrangements nearly identical to The Dance? Have I gone blind or is only one of the ten songs on this CD from Say You Will, the album this tour was allegedly promoting?

Where the hell is "Beautiful Child"? Or "Second Hand News"? Or "What's The World Coming To"? Or "Goodbye Baby"? Or hell, even "Gypsy"?

Double you tee eff, people? What on earth is wrong with this band? I mean honestly, what was the logic behind this? Because I'm completely dumbfounded by it. They may as well have left the CD out entirely and saved us a few extra bucks.

I couldn't agree with you more & I've said the same thing several times since it was released. Casual fans who bought The Dance 7 years before were not going to buy something so similar. Most of the different songs on the DVD were new SYW tunes that they wouldn't recognize, and some of the older tunes (EOTW, BC) were probably not recognized by the casual fan either.

I also agree with whoever mentioned that it should have been filmed later in the tour. True, Red Rover & IKINW aren't known hits, but I really do think that more casual fans may have purchased it if they saw that Sara was on it.

The CD was even worse, like you said, only 3 different songs from the Dance. My tracklisting would have been (in no particular order):

The Chain
Peacekeeper
SYW
NGBA
Come
Say Goodbye
BC
GDW
ISA
GYOW
Don't Stop
Goodbye Baby

Yep, this was just another in a long line of missed opportunities. I couldn't believe they left off Beautiful Child and all of the SYW songs except Come. Ridiculous.

I do wonder who picks the songs that appear on the CD though. I'm not sure how much control the band has on picking the tracks. I remember reading a Lindsey (or maybe Stevie) interview around the release of The Dance. Apparently, the band wanted to leave Rhiannon off The Dance CD and replace it with GDW, but Reprise (or whoever it was) balked, forcing them to put the better known track on it. Does anyone else remember reading this?

Another bone headed move - choosing to promote the Live In Boston DVD by playing a video for it on VH1 and picking...Landslide. How original! No, we weren't all sick to death of that song, we really needed yet another version of it.

It would have been nice if they had filmed the second leg of the tour, just to have IKINW. And even though they apparently hated it since it was the only song to get dropped twice (!), I'd love to have Destiny Rules on DVD.

If it truly is the case that the band had little control over what songs got put on the CD (although I'm not sure I really buy that), then that's absolutely pathetic. Is this not one of the top-selling bands of all time? Have they not all been in the music business for nearly four decades? If they're still under the thumb of record company politics in an age when so many lesser and far less popular acts have taken so much control over their own careers, they need to f***ing grow a pair or three. That's just ridiculous.

I know! I agree. I'm trying to find that article in the BLA, but there are a lot of them to sort through.

Come to think of it, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the band didn't even know a CD would be included with the DVD.

That's the software I use as well. It's very simple really. Put the DVD in and then chose where you want to save it and as what sort of file (mp3, wav etc.) and then just rip it.

It 's ok. Since I don't own the Dance cd (it was not on sale here), it's nice that I have a few songs live.
However, I would have prefered GDW to Rhiannon and I don't like Come that much anyway.

Seriously though, that c.d. is a joke. I love Eyes of the World, so I just ripped that particular track onto a comp c.d. but that's all the use I got out of it. Oh, and Stand Back live with F.M. is always killer. But aside from all that Meh, who needs it?

I agree with you and Jyqm...and Mike B that it's just another missed opp. the only thing I'd add to your setlist is Sara. that was such a momentous addition to the setlist...it deserved to be preserved. oh ****...I just said deserved to be preserved.

I know, I don't understand why they didn't. Especially The Dance - didn't it sell 5 million copies or something? I'll be it would have sold that even if it were a double CD with all songs included. Maybe they figured more people would buy the video for the missing songs? Again, I'm sure that would have sold just fine too.

You know, I tend to agree with this Paula. I think fans were pretty starved for anything from this band when The Dance came out and probably would have bought a double-disc package just as easily as a single disc.
