So anyway, by the middle of August 1997 the cd is out the special has been aired and it's TICKET BUYING TIME!
I had decided to go to 5 shows: 10-3, Cincinnati, 10-4, Detroit, 10-5, Indianapolis, 10-8, Minneapolis, and 10-9, Fargo. I wanted to do more, but you know how money goes.. Anyhoo, I'm sort of Anal(no pun intended ) about planning things out, so to my delight I discovered that the Minneapolis, Detroit, Fargo, and Indianapolis shows were all going on sale the same day, August 25th. My plan was to camp out in front of the Target center in Minneapolis and hopefully get front row seats. I also discovered that at our local ticketmaster outlet, you can buy tickets for shows in other states as long as they're in your region. So, as soon as I got my MInneapolis ticket I was going to go over to the Dayton's a couple blocks away and get the other shows. I was delighted to find out taht I had the 24th and the 25th off from work at Superamerica, a local convienence store. I was working overnights at the time, so the minute I got off work on Sunday the 24th at 7:00 A.M, I hightailed it home and showered, grabbed my cd player and a lawnchair and made my way downtown. Once I was situated and parked I made my way over to get in line. It was 8:30 A.M Sunday. I was the first person there!!! Now, this was right around the time that alot of arenas were stopping the practice of letting people camp out and switching to the number system. Luckily for me, Fleetwood Mac was first come, first serve. SO anyway, at about noon these 4 college guys form Wisconsin rolled up in their station wagon, and to their astonishment, someone was there first. They were like, "How long have you been here?" I was like "Oh, only about 4 hours." SO to make a long story short, the day went on into the night and by the next morning there were about 600 people in line right before the ticket office opened. The 4 major news stations all interviewed me for being the first person in line. Believe me, I was so geeked up, I'm sure it made great news footage. Only one bad thing, once I got my ticket when the office opened(FRONT ROW) I had to go over to the Dayton's to get Fargo, INdy and Detroit, for which I had to wait in line another 3 hours. Well I got all 3 shows, but by the time I got home I was so burnt out from no sleep, and since I neglected to tell anyone, no one taped the news and I never saw myself! Oh well. Now on to the ticket for the Cincinnati show, which was a whole nother adventure. I had been trying to get tickets to this show since the end of August(it was now like the 20th of Sept) and I kept calling information for the ticket office for the RIVERFRONT COLESIUM. BIg mistake. Apparently the place had undergone a renovation and been renamed The Crown. I didnt know that, plus for some reason Ticketmaster wasnt handling that show, it ended up being a local ticket agency! Finally someone at information figured out what I was talking about and got me the #. I called to find out tickets had already been on sale for a freakin month! (((UGH))) BUt I got lucky. since I only needed one seat, I was able to snag 5th row center. That's my Dance tour story, and I'm stickin to it!![]() |
