Deanna, have you ever thought about growing bangs? You'd look sooooo much better with bangs...

Listen, kids, I don't think anyone was being deceitful (wow, just realized I've no clue how to spell that) or trying to rip people off. Wizard never said this was confirmed, he said it was being worked out. So, oh well, I guess it didn't work out.

Maybe their people went to her people with a contract & she wouldn't agree to the conditions. Maybe Stevie wants to do it but her people don't like the idea. Maybe she can't get all of her band together on that date. Maybe she wants too much money. Maybe after all the **** she got for doing that bar mitzvah, she doesn't want to do private events anymore. Maybe she hates us. Maybe she is doing the party but not on that date. Maybe the contract had a clause in it requiring her to sing "WISYA" but banning her from singing "Dreams" and she's upset about it. Maybe Vegas remembers what happened last time we were all there & banned this event. Maybe she's growing out her bangs for Chris & they won't be ready by October. Maybe they ran out of those classy rainbow T-shirts from last year & they need to order more.

OK, obviously, obviously my post is mostly tongue in cheek, but come on. Relax & stop throwing blame around & bitching about something that was never actually confirmed. If Stevie can't (or won't) do it, it's not going to kill me, I still love the woman & her music. Give it some time, it's 5 months away, things could change. And if not, well, it was a nice idea & thanks for trying. No biggie.

Preach it.

Absolutely, and you know I agree with you on that score. But I don't think Mageboy really feels that Stevie "owes" her fans any of these nice perks. It's difficult not to feel a little disillusioned, though, if you're a big fan of another artist who does offer those kinds of perks to their die-hard.

Also, I get a bit of a different sense about the general consensus around here. I think most people realize that Stevie doesn't owe her fans anything special and certainly doesn't seem to be planning on giving them anything special anytime soon, hence the idea of, "Well, if she's not gonna do anything nice for us on her own, let's just buy her off for an evening!" Other than that, most folks around here seem to be pretty content to keep going to Stevie concerts and getting the same tired performances of the same tired songs and coming back and saying, "Oh well, at least she wore a funny hat and twirled around a couple times, maybe she'll hit those high notes or bring out more surprises next year, I'm sure I'll go anyway, I always do!"

I liked your tongue-in-cheek. I get the feeling that Stevie didn't even know about this. I wonder if she even knows about it now .

Wow. I sure got that feeling from his/her aggressive post about how Stevie "doesn't do **** for her die-hard fans," blah, blah, blah, bull****, bull****, bull****. Go back and read those posts Jyqm, I can't believe you don't think they are outrageous.

And that's an okay way to feel as a fan? "Let's buy her off for an evening" because we're not satisfied with what she gives us? I mean what is she, a prostitute? People need to start thinking about what it was that drew them to Stevie in the first place and consider themselves lucky that Stevie has touched their lives with her music at all period.

Well I guess if you don't like the "same old tired performances" don't go to anymore shows . I'm kind of sick of this rant too. If you don't like what she offers, don't partake of it. But don't think that you have the right or the influence as a die-hard fan to change it yourself and MAKE Stevie do what you want her to do. That is just scary---crazy scary. And I know you don't agree with this, when I say "you" I mean it in the general sense.

Well, Stevie doesn't owe me anything (& I hope I never said that she did owe me something). On the other hand, she has never given me anything, either. I had to purchase all of it.

Oh absolutely not. I think the commodification/objectification aspects of this whole party thing were really bizarre. I could go on for pages. Actually, I probably did, just not in the forum. Somebody could forward you some pretty rambling and damning PMs...

Yeah, exactly. I'll retain my right to be frustrated and complain when it comes up, but I know it's Stevie's prerogative to run her career as she sees fit, and since I don't really care for a lot of what she's doing now, I don't plan on going to any of her concerts in the near future (not that she's got any planned at the moment, or that she'd be coming anywhere near where I am).

As far as Mageboy, yeah, his posts were pretty inflammatory and dramatic, but I don't think he ever said or really implied that Stevie "owes" her fans anything. He said, "Stevie doesn't do **** for her die-hard fans," and, well, that's more or less true.

I agree. I also think she probably views the 138 or so shows with FM, the Gold Dust tour, etc., as being for the fans. I think she looks are the rare songs and covers pulled out for these shows and considers that for the cool fans and for herself actually. I am not saying she is correct in this line of reasoning. I am just saying that if I had been on the road essentially non-stop (rehearsing, touring, travelling, promoting, etc. ) for four years, I'd think I was giving alot of myself no matter how much I was compensated for it. I also think her charity appearances and charity work also play into how she feels about her self-giving to the general public, some of which are fans. So, maybe she looks at it that way. Just a thought

I have commented on this thread, and I've been guilty of dissing Stevie at times, so just to be clear:

I don't think Stevie owes die-hard fans anything, including this intimate performance. I am disappointed that this is not happening because I was excited about it. I agree we don't know the reason for her not doing it and we shouldn't rush to blame anyone. I agree with Mageboy's overall sentiments, even if I wouldn't phrase them the same way.

I also have to agree that the Wizard's response to the Nicksfix post doesn't make any sense and I think he should be very forthcoming and clear about what is really going on.

I still don't see anything wrong with the intent, i.e., I don't see it as objectification for a bunch of fans to hire Stevie for a performance...as long as there weren't expectations that she do anything other than her standard private party gig.

Stevie will never do the stuff Heart and Pat Benatar do for their fans. It's never been her thing. I try very hard to accept her for who she is and appreciating what she has given and still gives.

I hope liquidblue isn't feeling persecuted by the brouhaha. He's just one little guy. He's a nice kid, although he once mouthed off to me. I still like liquidblue. is he the Wizard over there? Speaking of which, that place has been performing beautifully in recent weeks: lots of interesting new threads & discussions. I like seeing macheads form online communities &, even if there isn't much in the way of discussion to begin with, I am glad to see potential grow & materialize.

One day, I would like to start my own message board dedicated (in terms of topic of conversation) to fleetwood mac. Would anyone think about joining? I would make it a no-registration board, but I would retain the privilege of kick-banning anyone I deemed unfit.

Only certain kinds of trolling would be allowed. But I would certainly not allow the sort of situation to develop that brought down Tracy's group. You gotta nip that in the bud the moment you spot it.

I disagree. I think she is a paid performer. Why shouldn't she take a private gig if the money's right? I mean wouldn't we all do that? Don't we all do that in our lives everyday? Who here would turn down more money for what they do especially if they enjoyed doing it as she apparently does? I certainly would not.

I think you just hate that she does private shows for money. I think you think that in some way demeans her. Personally, I see no difference in a private show and a paid public one.

BTW - that last sentence originally read "and a paid pubic one"

Also - David, I will come to your board!
