Tom Hanks To Produce 'Mamma Mia' Adaptation

The hit ABBA musical "Mamma Mia" is set to be made into a film produced by Oscar winner Tom Hanks. Hollywood publication Daily Variety reports Abba songwriters Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Anderson will work alongside Hanks to bring the stage show, which made its debut on the London stage almost a decade ago, to cinemas by the end of the year.

"Mamma Mia," which features many of the Swedish band's hits including "Dancing Queen" and "The Winner Takes It All," has grossed more than $1.6 billion around the world.

I'm excited. It will be my first opportunity to see it. I read in a newspaper that it's set for release in summer 2007.

ooohhh...mother is happy! I love it. Tom Hanks produces some good stuff too so I think it has a good chance of being a good adaptation.

Well done TH ! I don't know the show, but my kids love it and they were born way after Abba were around! I might even go and see it myself when it's done
