Johnny Cash won the last round and joins Tina Turner, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Led Zeppelin, Joni Mitchell and Tom Petty in the finals.
Next up: two pop legends... |

I had to go with The Beach Boys. Both are hugely influential, legendary bands, but the simple fact is that I really like the Beach Boys as a band, whereas I prefer each of the members of the Beatles as solo acts.

This presented me with a quandry. Although the Beatles piss me off, I also like some of their songs, and definitely know more of them than I do the beach boys. But, when I hear beach boys songs, they make me pretty happy. But, I am not familiar with much of the BB's work. So, I think really that the Beatles catologue is more varied and compelling. I wanted to pick the beach boys, but is it fair to do so just because I think the Beatles are way overrated? Probably not. And, though they are overrated, IMO, the Beatles still have a lot of cool songs that I'm stoked to hear if they come on the radio. And in a bizarre twist, Beatles lyrics are a contributing factor for me.
I own albums from neither. Also, I have not used capital letters here because of laziness.

Beach Boys. The Beatles are way overrated, IMO, and I don't get why people cream themselves over them so much. Nothing special.

Well, Even though I'm presonally not a huge Beatles fan, I do realize what an incredible impact they had on rock n roll, so they got my vote

My mother is a huge Beatles fan, and my brother is a pretty big fan as well. Myself, I've never been a major fan (though I do have some favorite songs), but the mark they've left on contemporary pop/rock music is undeniable. They easily win out over the Beach Boys in my book.
