The problem is *not* getting him to do that. I put the towel over the door to stop him from chewing on the door. He may look cute, but that beak is strong and sharp, and he knows how to use it. I give him wood chunks to chew up in his cage, and he can usually reduce one to shavings in an afternoon.

Then one day he discovered the tunnel made by the towel-folds, and now that's the first place he goes when I let him out for playtime. It's his own little "secret" place. It's weird - seeing this lump move along the top of the door under the towel. And he chews up the towel too, but that's fine with me. Much easier to replace an old towel than a door.
