Hey, Christy....
I live right outside philly, and work there almost every day. Where is the Justin party?
Are you interested in historical sites more, or just wanna hit the biggies, like the Liberty Bell. There are actually several things right around the Liberty Bell that you could see within a couple hours. I've done it with my 7 year old several times.

There are several hot bars and areas to go to for drinking I can try to advise you on.

I'm not sure where the Rocky statue is anymore. It used to be at the Art Museum, then it was moved to the Spectrum. I kind of thought it was still there, but I know someone else mentioned the Library. I can try to find out if you want.

Let me know what kinds of things you're interested in seeing, and I'll try to help.

Do you know where you're staying yet?

Carol

Default Violet...

The party is at Galdo's. Have you been there and do you know how big that place is?

I would love to see historical stuff (Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, etc.), and I think we are going to do the Trolley tour. Where is a good place to get in some shopping?

We are staying at the Society Hill Hotel. Did I make a good choice? I've read some great things about it....and some not so great.

I don't drink, but any food suggestions would be good. I might try a Philly cheesesteak. Where are the best ones? I don't really like steak, but I'll try it.

Any and all suggestions are welcome!!

You should totally go, while he still has a career. That sounds like a lot of fun.

I'm not familiar with Galdo's, but I'll ask around at work and see what I can find out for you.

Things to see in and around the Liberty Bell are, Independence Hall, which you have to get a pass for, and they do sell out. The Liberty Bell Pavilion dumps you out right in front of Ind. Hall, but you have to get the tickets in a different location, I believe. I think they're free, but they limit how many people go thru. A couple blocks away are Ben Franklin's grave, his homesite with a frame where his house used to be so you can see how big it was and where rooms are, first US Post Office, Betsy Ross House (which coincidentally is right next door to the building used by Real World when they were here). The new Constitution Center is right there, too, and right now they have a Ben Franklin Exhibition going on. Not sure how long that runs for. The trolley tour is a nice idea, because I think it takes you up to the Museum District. I've never done it, but I have done the carriage rides around the Ind. Hall area. Yes, I feel bad for the horses, but the drivers usually have interesting tidbits of info.

For cheesesteak, it sounds like you're going to be fairly close to South Street (big party district), so you could hit Jim's Steaks. The famous ones are Pat's and Geno's in South Philly. You could take an inexpensive cab ride there. The place I like to go is Tony Luke's, which is a bit further. Now, to make sure you don't sound like a tourist you should say "Cheesesteak with" or "Cheesesteak without," which means with/without onions. And add on your cheese preference: Whiz, Provolone, American, etc. (Technically, it's "Cheesesteak wit" if you have the right accent )

Society Hill is a great area. Again, not familiar with that hotel, but I'll check.

I'll think of some good restaurants and get back to you. The Capital Grill is supposed to be good. I haven't eaten there, but my husband has, and he said it's good.

What kind of shopping are you looking for? Walnut Street west of Broad St. has nice stores. (Williams Sonoma, Banana Republic, Bebe, Mac, Kiehls, Tiffany's, etc.)

Let me know what other questions you have. I'll get back to you on the hotel and Galdo's.

When we were there a couple of year's back, we had fantastic Italian food at Ralph's. I think it was somewhere in South Philly? Mmmmmmm, it was so good. Nice, small, local family place & not too pricey. Warm & cozy.

Pat's cheesesteaks were overrated, IMO.

I'm not familiar with Ralph's, but I totally agree with you about Pat's. And Geno's for that matter. They're both right there near the Italian Market (also shown in Rocky). They're the most famous, but I still prefer Jim's or Tony Luke's.

OMG, you'd have to ask Paula. I can't remember the names of any of them, except The Cheesecake Factory? in Caesers. The cheesecake was the best I've ever had in my whole entire life! It was to die for. Plus the main course was delish too.

Well, Christy, I know how much you like Justin & I don't blame you for going. I'm always going to Philly to the Wachovia Center for concerts. I've been to see the Phillies once at their new stadium & I'm a big Eagles fan though I haven't been to see them yet in their new stadium. I've never really seen downtown Philly except on TV or in the movies (Rocky). I've always wanted to see it though. Oh well, maybe someday I will. I've heard them mention Justin & his new jazz album on the local Philly news. Have a great time & a safe trip!

Lee

Talking Thanks Lee!

He's working on a 3rd album too with more "radio-friendly" R&B, pop, club, etc. tunes. The jazz album was a unique deal since he loves jazz so much.

Restaurants are important to me too because I'm so picky and can't just walk into one and eat. I have to know what type of food and if they have chicken in case I don't like anything else on the menu.

I will be coming back with tons of photos, videos and memories to share.

Theresa, your mailbox is full and I am trying to PM you, please clean house! Thanks.

Oh that Cheesecake Factory was so good. The service was good and they did a good job with our large group, aside from splitting some of us up. Okay, that part not so good but it was because of how busy they were. They have excellent chocolate Martinis! It really didn't seem like a chain restaurant, it was excellent.

The asian place I went to with Tiff and Anita doesn't seem to be there anymore! It was really delicious, they had the best sushi. Here's a link that shows Caesar's restaurants http://www.caesars.com/Caesars/LasVegas/Dining/
