Yay! I'm glad he's feeling better. I had a cat die from feline leukemia and it was HORRIBLE! I'm glad your kitty only has a minor illness that can be treated.
I was worried for you!

I had raccoons last year too. They were outside though. I was afraid of them getting in the garage. there was a little family of them and one used to hang out on the roof of my garage and watch over the others. The Little Sisters of The Poor have a compound up the street from my house and I see them up there at night a lot. So I think that's where they live. I really didn't want to hurt them but I don't want them living in my garage either.

My thoughts are with you and your kitty, Livia, and my heart goes out to you, Brian, over the loss of yours.

Big hugs to you both.

I just got home from my visit - he looks SO much better! When they brought him into the room, they removed the cone around his neck and told me to make sure he didn't pull out his catheter. As soon as he actually looked at me and heard my voice, he didn't quite meow, it was more like a whimper and he gave me a head butt. Aaaaw! We had a nice talk about how I missed him and didn't want him to be there, but I had to bring him in since they are making him better. I told him that the nice Ledgies and their kitties were all praying for him. I cleaned up his face and eyes, and he just sat there and let me do it. I noticed they'd trimmed his toenails. They're going to try to feed him again tonight. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes as planned and he'll be back home tomorrow night.

Did it feel like he understood? I got that feeling when I visited Mufasa when he had that bout with vomitting. I also felt like he would be coming home very soon, like he was saying, "I'm getting better Mom, don't worry". Maybe I'm just nuts but that is what I felt in my gut.

*sigh* Just talked to the vet - he threw up again last night. His latest bloodwork is leading them to believe he's got hyperthyrhoidism. He certainly has all the symptoms...

http://www.sniksnak.com/cathealth/hyperthyroidism2.html

They're going to do an ultrasound to check his glands and look for any signs of cancer that didn't show up on the x-rays. His regular vet, Dr. Parker, has been out of town, but she's back tomorrow. The vet today said that Dr. Parker is better at knowing which treatment works best for the thyroid condition.

This is killing me, I'm a wreck and have a ton of work to catch up on, but at least all 3 attorneys I support are gone today...so, no more sh*t will be piling up on my desk and I won't have to deal with their a-hole, "It's all about me, I don't care what's going on in your personal life, type this for me NOW!" bullsh*t...

The good news - we think the raccoon is gone - not trapped, but never returned after chewing its way out of the attic Sunday night.

Yeah, we totally have that bond. But I didn't feel that he was telling me he'd be home soon. I felt more like he felt bad cuz he knew he was bumming me out and couldn't help it. Must be why I can't stop crying right now...

Aw, I am so sorry! It will be good tomorrow when your regular vet can take a look at him. Poor baby. It will be okay.

I got the call around 5 PM today - the ultrasound showed numerous tumours throughout his intestines. Even if he was strong enough to endure the surgery, there wouldn't have been enough intestines left over to put back together and function. There was nothing they could do for him...I went in to say good-bye and told him all the things I needed to say. They cut a lock of his fur for me. I handed him over to the vet after we spent some time alone together, and left before "it" happened. For me personally, I couldn't bear to watch him go. He's going to be cremated and I'll get his ashes in about 10 days...

That's all I can post for now - I'm a mess, but wanted to let you guys know how much I appreciate your love and support.
