Default Fired! Tales of the Canned Canceled Downsized & Dismissed

There's a new book out on this subject: http://www.firedbyannabellegurwitch.com/.

From her site:

Get Fired!
Whether you're the CEO of a large corporation, working a temp job in a law firm, or an actor starring in your own sitcom, it's hard to go through life and never get fired, canned, outsourced, downsized, laid off, or my personal favorite, "decruited".

I was fired by a cultural icon [Woody Allen, and he called her "retarded"] and that really sucks! But after hearing some these tales of jobs gone bad, I realized I wasn't alone and my story didn't seen so terrible. Beyond the hilarity, I have truly been inspired by these accounts. I've known some of the people whose stories have been part of the Fired nights for years, and yet I had no idea about all the crappy "character building" experiences that have contributed to making them into people I admire.

Of course, you might not have been ever fired and that's just great. But if you have, you might want to write your story down too. I'm not a therapist , but I am an actress and have been in a lot of therapy. Writing your story down can help you get closure to your experience. In fact, if you want to share your story with us.

Someone more clever than I said, "it's not the bounce that counts, it's the bounce back." and I hope after hearing these stories, you will feel the same way.

Good lord, I didn't even notice that first time 'round. Rachel Maddow mentioned that the "downsizing industry" is growing. I guess there are companies that help other companies get rid of people. These people are worse than meter maids or telemarketers!

Hey, I just had an idea!! I'll tell future prospective employers that. They'll love that sorta wordology. BTW I went and applied at a new casino that's opening up by me to be like a cage cashier or security. Dont worry, I wont be carrying a gun.

Okay, if you get the security gig you'll have to practice your "I am not nice" face.

I'm planning to get an FID card to carry mace actually, speaking of guns. Someone tried to get into our apartment a couple of weekends ago. I wasn't home but my roommate woke up in the wee hours of the morning to someone trying to open the door. It was probably our downstairs neighbor, he seems to be a drunk and has stolen wine from our downstairs landing area before. He was probably just looking for booze. But we don't really know for sure who it was. Anyway, I would be more comfortable if I had something like that to protect myself.

If anything happens to you, I will personally come and deal with the "Problem." Just call me Luca Brazzi. One thing though, I'm not quite as big as he was, and I'd like to think I'm at least a little bit smarter.
