Agreed... it made me an "Oh Daddy" believer. Plus, Ken C. seemed so cute in his Q&A, I just had to get his baby.

No, I know, it's shocking. I thought it was just Rumours on another format and that you needed special equipment to hear it properly? Or were people just talking about better sound?

You need surround sound equipment to hear the 5.1 mix, but there's also a fantastic stereo mix, which you can listen to on any DVD player.

Preferably on headphones, so you can hear EVERYTHING. Frankly, you'll never be the same.

During rumours he was the boss of the band...the "Daddy" so to speak, that kept all the "kids" in line and I get the feeling he helped Chris and Stevie through some difficult times, professionally. When they were heartbroken, tired, hurt, drugged out, down on themselves, and just ready to give up on the band.

I know many will argue that Lindsey was the "main guy " in the band and everyone followed what he said....I thiink that Mick admired and allowed and needed Lindsey. He possessed the creative energy that the band so dearly needed, at that time. But I still think it was Mick's band and he was the "main guy".
Nice post and I agree. Oh Daddy is not, literally but rather, metaphorically and/or figuratively about the relationship between a child and a father. Christine perhaps felt like a child to Mick's towering father-figuresque presence in the band. I can see this, I mean, both Stevie and Chris have described Mick in this way, Stevie always says that Mick is the boss and always refers to F.M. as his band, etc. In those early years of the B.N. lineup, they all pretty much looked to Mick for much of their professional and managerial (word?) direction. Anyway, I think the impetus for Chris writing this song sprung out of her "image" of what she thought Mick represented to her, and perhaps the band, at that time. I dunno, seems simple to me .

We just got surround sound, so of course I ran out & bought the Rumours DVD. Holy God, it's fabulous. The sound is amazing, I heard things I never even knew were there before! Thanks for the recommendation, guys. It's truly amazing. Now, I'll wait for them to release Tusk.

the Rumours DVD is amazing. I think The Chain and Silver Springs really shine.
